Federal judges have a little more leeway, in general.

At the same time, a lot of Judge Ellis’ remarks have struck me as biased/inappropriate. Very reminiscent of Judge Sirica in the Watergate trials, except Sirica had his thumb on the pro-conviction side of the scale, and Ellis on the pro-acquittal side.

Actually, this is the way Ellis is on almost every case he presides over according to a former prosecutor Maddow had on the other night. And he said his admonitions frequently go both ways. The prosecutor actually lauded Ellis, saying that he learned a lot from him.

Does anyone remember how Judge Ellis was seated for this case?

Who isn't testifying against Manafort.

Sounds like not having these people blows holes in the government's case. Loan for job looks like just speculation by someone who wasn't the key contact. Fraud on the application-why not ask the point person instead of his underlings who would know much less.

Kind of like the lavish lifestyle. Its innuendo, not evidence.
