OT: Mounting flags on cars with wind deflectors/widnow visors
Folks, I usually fly my ODU flags when i drive to the game from ATL but this spring i put wind deflectors/window visors what ever you want to call them to beat some heat and now i am stuck with a situation where i have to either rip them off or not mount flags or find a different spot to fly the flags. Figured someone might have faced the same issue and have work around. Even if i get my hands on a smaller flag to mount on the hood like this one below i do not want to spend 100 plus for a flag mount and/or get a ticket for driving with obstructed vision or what ever legal lingo is.

https://www.flagsoncars.com/z-mount-dipl...-pole.html

Any ideas will be appreciated.

That's easy. Break off the bottom window clip from the flag pole, discard the clip, and then weld the flag pole to the top of the car.

Yeah if it was a old car or a truck i wouldn't have hesitated but can't do that with a brand new car. Looks like some folks in SC were selling flags for cars with visors but they are out of business now 03-weeping

I'm assuming you have the visors on the front and back windows. What kind of vehicle? Sedan, Truck, SUV?

Apologies for the sarcasm. I would honestly go to a local metal shop and get a quote for a new car flag pole that can fit around the deflector, and using the clip from your current flag pole.

No Worries. I figured someone might have faced this issue and have a solution that is cheap and easy before i let make it complicated and ruin something on my car.

Vinyl wrap the whole car!

There are magnetic flag holders you can get.

I'd try to rig it to the trunk somehow. If you have a roof rack you could figure something out there. Or just get some heavy duty clips and mount it to your antanea

I'm sure there's a makerspace area near ATL. Maybe you could try to 3D print a new holder for your flags that fit around the visor?

Yeah looked at that option too but the maximum speed they can support looks to be in 60's. I might have to go with a custom option form a local iron works that is both cheap and portable.

That might be a good idea.

I haven't flown flags since I ditched my flags at the unc friday center parking lot. I'm in the market for a yard flag, any places around the southside that have ODU flags. I've ordered from Amazon before but then seem to fade after a few weeks.

ODU bookstore has everything. If you are trying to avoid their prices I'm betting target and the like will have them closer to kickoff

I got mine from my daughters school fundraiser a few years ago. Usually full of wrapping paper and crappy tupperware. They had a whole page on college flags and lo and behold they had an ODU one. Last year it was crappy chocolate.

edit: I know this doesn't help you but just wanted to tell the story.

I'd avoid the flags from the bookstore if possible. Maybe I just got unlucky with a defective product, but the one I bought fell apart in its first drive down from DC. Used it one time. Returned it to the bookstore (literally one week later) for a replacement and they wouldnt do anything about it. They told me to take it up with the flag manufacturer. I've sworn off the bookstore ever since.

Bookstore is option one. Option two is here: College Flags & Banners

I have not purchased anything from the College Flags & Banners people but they have a decent selection.

2Wish I was still on campus. It'd be pretty easy to 3D print something like this.

I might still have time left on my 757 maker space account. Ill check when I get back to hampton roads.

Thank you but i figured its easy to go with a hitch pole and that way i can take off the flag and hang it to my house when i am not driving with it and frankly a lot cheaper. All i need is one of these for like 25 bucks and a 3x5 flag which is another ~25 bucks.
