LSU-Florida State two game football series
Per Brett McMurphy:
"LSU and Florida State have agreed to a two-game neutral site series to open the 2022 and 2023 seasons, sources told me.
The Tigers and Seminoles have reached an agreement to meet in 2022 in New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome and in 2023 in Orlando’s Camping World Stadium. Atlanta was also considered for the 2023 game, sources said.
Florida State leads the overall series 7-2 with LSU and has won the last four meetings against the Tigers. The schools have not played since 1991."

Sounds like a good game for LSU!! Can’t say they haven’t been trying to improve their OOC schedule.

RE: LSU-Florida State two game football series
Interesting that LSU has made another deal for a pair of pseudo neutral site games. They played a series with Wisconsin in which the close-to-LSU game was played in Houston in 2014 and the close-to-Wisky game was played in Green Bay in 2016.

Why the neutral sites? Just play at home

(except Red River Shootout)
Good series. LSU & FSU are sneaky close at 6 hours apart.

I agree. LSU's home stadium seats 102,321 and the Louisiana Superdome seats 76,468. It seems like a no brainer to me to have the games on campus. Why rent out a stadium when you have a bigger one at home?

It could be that someone other than ESPN wants to broadcast the game and couldn't with either as the home team. Not sure if that's applicable here but a possibility.

Also, they probably split the tickets at each venue allowing 180,000 season ticket holders to compete for 76,000 seats. Gives an incentive to increase donations each year.

Plus I assume these tickets won't be included in the season ticket package, so every single ticket is sold at face value, which is no doubt inflated by what you just mentioned...

Only reason to not play Army-Navy on campus is stadium capacity, right? Nothing wrong with their stadiums. And they move the game to different neutral sites from year to year.
As for UT-OU -- their fans might disagree, but if the Cotton Bowl stadium isn't considered a special venue any more, they might as well play on campus.

Getting this on the schedule now so when Florida St joins the SEC, the games fold into the conference schedule for both schools.

2037? That is some forward thinking right there.

I wasn't serious. Seemed like the proper conspiracy theory for the topic!

They won't have to wait until 2037, though... you forgot to mention that as part of the conspiracy, the Illuminati and the Trilateral Commission will emerge from their super-secret semi-annual meeting and declare all college conference grant of rights agreements to be invalid, which will make Florida State free to join the SEC before the scheduled 2022-2023 games against LSU.

They don't move often. The game is mostly played in Philadelphia, very occasionally in the Washington area, and pretty much nowhere else.

ESPN could broker a deal to get FSU and/or anyone else out to the SEC and vice versa if they really wanted without the GoR being an issue.
