They don't make that much. Good first job, though.

Practice squad is more like 120k, your 500k is more like the roster minimum I believe.

ETough, from the link I provided, it stated he will make $480k based on his contract. Does he have to make the 53 man roster to get that money? I thought some practice squad players can be under contract and earn quite a bit but now I'm uncertain. What do you think? I'm curious......

Cleveland Browns QB Brogan Roback is entering his first year in the NFL. He will earn a salary of $480K as part of his rookie contract."

Brogan will gross over $1.5M for three years if he makes the practice squad and doesn't get cut. I wonder if Wickersham makes a larger annual salary than Brogan??? 03-lmfao

Looks like teams will start doing the QB shuffle to fill injury spots. I wonder if the Browns didn't play Brogan last game so he is their hidden gem.

I kind of have been watching the Browns.

I'm thinking it is too hard to play 4 QBs in a game so they play the top two and one game Roback plays as the 3rd stringer and Stanton played 3rd string in the other.

That's interesting Steve. It's early but round 1 goes to Roback over Stanton!!!

If a player goes to a practice squad it typically means they were cut and then re-signed to a different deal, hence the lower salary.

I'm rooting for Roback. Always good to have MAC players at prominent positions in the NFL.

I don't follow NFL contracts, but I believe they are not guaranteed (only a small percentage are) so I would think that once a player is cut the old contract is null and void.

My question is: if a player, esp rookie, is cut and signed to the practice squad and then re-signed does he get a new contract say at the league minimum?

Still not bad for a first year EMU grad. 03-lmfao

So it looks like 500K if he makes the roster the entire season, 100K if the practice squad for the entire season or ----- if he doesn't make the practice squad.

RE: Brogan on HBOs Hard Knocks
Thanks ETough, I read the link you provided and the NFL has increased practice squad players to $7600/week.

Using proation and regression, Brogan will be under contract for 2.5 months at $470k per year and 16 weeks at $7600/week. Therefore Brogan will probably earn approximately $97k + $121k = $218k

So I spent 5 minutes doing the calculation so I could say Brobie's salary > Wickersham's salary and the kid is only 23!

Pilot you are correct. That "low" cost practice squad salary will most likely double that of the average college graduate in 2018. Also people may denigrate MAC quarterbacks but I am pretty sure Pittsburgh has been satisfied with the one they have.

I hope this hard knocks show is not becoming a distraction. Just speculating but Brogan needs his 100% attention on football!

I’m here at the game in the second row behind the Browns bench. Brogan has made some good throws. It’s been great to see how Mayfield and Taylor have been encouraging him after every series.
