Do you not listen to Coach Norvell's coaching shows. He's talked about who and why we schedule numerous times.
We had dozens of recruits lined up to attend the Georgia State game last year prior to it being cancelled. Our OOC opponents are designed to help in recruiting first and foremost.
No, I don't have much time to listen to them. But if I did, there is a big difference between coach speak and the AD being asked a question he needs to be on record about. And the argument that we need to play teams in certain areas to recruit is extremely flawed. Those territories get recruited ten fold during the offseason. The only thing playing in Atlanta does is give them a chance to see us play on the road, which is a moot point anyway if the kids are invited to campus.
So, basically you admit that everything you said is 100% opinion with zero basis in facts. There's a huge difference in coach speak and a coach explaining to a fan the reason behind scheduling certain teams and how it helps in recruiting. It's not a moot point to be able to bring family and friends to a game to see you play closer to home than hundreds of miles drive.
Apparently you were never recruited by anyone out of state, because it was a selling point to me that they would be playing the Tigers in Memphis because family and friends could see me play if I signed with them.
I'm confused by that part cause no that's not what I'm admitting, lol. I was recruited out of state. Wasn't a big deal but also wasn't a part of my argument. I'm not entirely sure I get your point with that. However, there is a difference between Norvell saying it's for recruiting and Bowen telling us "We aren't getting a home and home with Purdue because they want the return game too far down the road." He has been extremely coy about recruiting and he, not Norvell, makes the schedule. All I'm saying is he needs to go on record and answer that tough question. That was my point before you told me to listen to Norvell's radio show.
First, if you think Norvell doesn't have heavy input into our scheduling you are just simply wrong.
Second, I was stating that playing AT Georgia State, not only allows us to bring recruits to the game, but also is used as a recruiting tool for all Georgia recruits, that if they sign with us they will have at least a game where their family and friends won't have to drive hundreds of miles to see them play. That was stressed by multiple out of state schools that would've been playing in Memphis when I was recruited in high school. It's absolutely still used today.
It's not a tough question because it has been dealt with on multiple fronts and multiple times. I told you to listen to Coach Norvell's show, which you should be doing anyway, because he often comments about that philosophy and how it's bearing fruit.

The truth of the matter is that any money spent on entertainment in any form has been squandered and would have been better off saved or given to a worthy cause. The foregoing statement is not in tbe least bit realistic but it is true.

Again, boy you love twisting my words. I'm sure he does. But Bowen has veto power over all things football unfortunately.

Typed in my best GP voice...
Would I as a Tiger fan be more likely to go see the team play Purdue as to play La Tech? No.
Would Purdue bring more fans than La Tech? Possibly.
Would playing a tough OOC schedule, now that we are in a decent conference, and going 6-6 with a Birmingham Bowl on the line, generate as much excitement around the program as going 10-2 with today's scheduling and a shot at a Peach Bowl? No way.

Hate that school. If it were Iowa, I'd rather see that than LA Tech.
