Now if UH had 27 votes like FAU yeah you would have a point

FAU had a great season. Terrific offense. But don't act like they don't have question marks too. Namely, how important was Kendall Briles to there success?
Kendell didn’t call plays after week 4.

denial: i already posted 6 links about this topic when he was first hired at houston and fau fans were saying this..

kiffin numerous numerous times after week 4 said briles ran the offense....

kiffin also said he had no clue how to run the baylor offense that it was completely different than anything he ran, that he had to put faith in briles

I agree Pesik, But who taught the kids cheap shots after the play and faking injuries to stall?

Briles was caught on national TV doing this at Baylor and Herbstriet says it was “bush league”

So Kendall was coaching the Baylor defense as OC?

And pick a team that didnt do that vs UH when Kingsbury or Holgorsen were OC. Todd Graham at both Tulsa and Rice was notorious for doing it. June's SMU teams did it. And yes, I believe La Tech tried it to slow down Keenum's incredible comeback in 2011.

I know for 100 percent fact play calling duties changed going into week 4. I do not care what you say or want to think.
Kendell was important in brining that style and teaching it, but Motor had 34 carries the first three weeks and Parr was starting who isn't even at the school anymore.

Doesnt matter what I say or think. Kiffin said it in July of this year. Why would he lie about that in an interview primarily about his new OC hire and whether he would call the plays this year?

Now he did say he got more involved in the game planning and emphasized that he wanted to run more, but Briles still called all the plays. So if you want to say that, you'd likely be accurate. But that's different than saying he called the plays which he did not do.

Offensive Intervention

From another article:
While Kiffin intervened to emphasize the running game while game planning for upcoming opponents, he insists that the play calling duties remained with Briles.

“Kendal called the plays,” he said.

And regarding who said to fake injuries, it was likely DC Phil Bennett. He did it as DC of SMU against Art Briles' UH teams and then went on to become DC at Baylor

You don't have to look outside C-USA to find this. I think it was the 2016 UTSA game against ODU with the Monarchs driving. The play was over, and players on both teams were getting ready for the next play when -- Bam, Bam, Bam -- three Road Runners (who were all standing with no signs of a problem) all went down one after the other. Two of them fairly quickly realized they had overkill and got up, while one stayed down. It was the damndest thing I have ever seen on a football field and was immediately followed by a chorus of boos from the crowd at Foreman Field.

SI has Houston at #20, because they did their homework and really looked at who is on this team this year, 2017 was last year, Iam excited for Houston in 2018 and just might surprise a few people but not this dawgxas Louisiana dude, he seems to be a Houston hater, I’d be willing to bet half his family lives in the Houston area
It’s great that FAU is being ranked, the more g5 teams that are ranked in the top 25 the better for our g5 image

7-5 Houston who lost to Tulsa, Tulane and lost in their bowl game to G5 Fresno to finish the season. Sorry but no 7-5 G5 team should be ranked in preseason top 25

Do you have a problem with a 7-6 Arizona team that lost to Houston at 19?

That’s great but that will only get you #12 by the CFP.

Boise was ranked #3 by the BCS in 2010

Thats because they put in work the year before finishing 12-1 with an end of the year ranking of #11 and #13 in the AP and Coaches respectively. Thats the reality for non blue bloods. You have to be good usually for two seasons in order to get paid off. One year to get attention and build hype and then a second year to deliver on the hype. UH had it within reach a couple seasons ago but the coach couldn't keep the team focused (Probably because he was too busy interviewing for the job in Austin).

Yes I know I’ve made the exact same point. No flash in the pan seasons like UCF followed up by O’fer campaign

03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

Since 2010 for UCF:

2010: Conference Champs, Liberty Bowl win
2011: average/bad year
2012: Eastern Division Champs, St Pete Bowl win
2013: Conference Champs, Fiesta Bowl win
2014: Conference Champs, Bowl Appearance
2015: Horrid season
2016: 6-6 and bowl appearance
2017: Conference and National Champs, 13-0, Peach Bowl win

That's 4 conference titles in 8 years and 6 bowl appearances/4 bowl victories, 2 NY6 bowl victories, 2 Top 10 finishes, 3 Top 25 finishes, and bowl wins over Georgia, Baylor, and Auburn.

I'm sure La Tech has a similar record during that time span.

I think reasonable people should understand that this argument is silly. Clearly, FAU had gone through growing pains of learning the new coaches' system, etc. FAU also lost to Buffalo in early season. But then we curb stomped Akron, the team who beat Buffalo, in the bowl.

Late in the season, we would have dropped a 50 on Navy.

In 2016, UCF was 6-7, not 6-6.

No need to brag about bowl results, AAC members have made it clear to CUSA y'all don't care about bowl results.

That's a nice run and a great bounce-back from 2015 to 2017. Should be a good game between you guys and FAU.

heres the thing, your roser this season is far better than last season... if fau is all the sauce you guys think it is and kiffin is the mastermind behind everything ..beating a rebuilding oklahoma, and a rebuilding ucf , shouldnt honestly be that difficult, if fau is as good as you guys think you are....

if fau struggles, then manages to look great during conference play, we'll all know what is up

we care about bowl results but are also aware of matchups.... you guys just take it too far..

you are having your #1 and #2 teams playing our #6 #5 teams without their coaches and making conference statements about it....aac could go 4-0 in bowl games. our #1-4 vs their #7-11.. we'd be super hyped about the wins and the record, but we wouldn't start making claims that we are better than the sec because of it, a common occurrence here

Any league team getting votes or in the top 25 in any sport, is great for the league.

I get that, but we play who we are told to play. And yes, if our #2 beats your #5, doesn't mean we are a better conference. I'm sure any CUSA member can admit AAC is a better conference.

heres the thing, your soter this season is far better than last season... if fau is all the sauce you guys think it is and kiffin is the mastermind behind everything ..beating a rebuilding oklahoma, and a rebuilding ucf , shouldnt honestly be that difficult, if fau is as good as you guys think you are....

if fau struggles, then manages to look great during conference play, we'll all know what is up

In FAUs defense, they are replacing their QB and they don't get a tuneup game for him before playing Oklahoma. Not sure I would consider Oklahoma and UCF in rebuild stages. UCF as a new coach, but he has a lot to work with.

Oklahoma returns 12 starters
UCF returns 14 starters
FAU returns 15 starters

No need to brag about bowl results, AAC members have made it clear to CUSA y'all don't care about bowl results.

That's a nice run and a great bounce-back from 2015 to 2017. Should be a good game between you guys and FAU.

we care about bowl results but are also aware of matchups.... you guys just take it too far..

you are having your #1 and #2 teams playing our #6 #5 teams without their coaches and making conference statements about it....houston could got go 4-0 in bowl games vs the sec our #1-4 vs their #7-11.. we'd be super hyped about the wins and the record, but we wouldn't start making claims that we are better than the sec because of it, a common occurrence here

I get that, but we play who we are told to play. And yes, if our #2 beats your #5, doesn't mean we are a better conference. I'm sure any CUSA member can admit AAC is a better conference.

That’s false, Tech beat AAC regular season champ Navy in Armed Forces
