McGill Game
McGill, you have no idea what you're about to step into. You're about to walk into fire, where you'll have to look into the eyes of the beast. The greatest basketball team in the world is coming for you, to prove a point.

McGill, the fact is that you cannot beat Cincinnati, and reality that will become painfully obvious once the game is over. But from the minute the game begins to the second it ends, you, McGill, will be given a crash course in basketball brilliance, a lesson on how the play the game, and yes, you will suffer a beating that it will take years to recover from.

I can't wait, McGill, to watch you get your comeuppance. This is what you deserve because of all of the things you've done. You've been living a lie, McGill. Liars must pay. Cincinnati will collect.

The road to the championship runs through Cincinnati. Cincinnati.

RE: McGill Game
So far your Canada trip has mirrored what happened to Wichita 2 years ago. Blow out the first team. Get handled by Carleton and now to play McGill. Let's hope Cronin in Canada doesn't pull a Marshall in Canada. Would hate to see TWO AAC teams that aren't allowed back in the Canada Exhibition ... lol

RE: McGill Game
Bearcats up 16-6 after the first quarter. Up 38-28 at half and 55-38 at the end of the third.

Interesting notes: The starting 5 were Jarron Cumberland, Keith Williams, Rashawn Fredericks, Tre Scott and Eliel Nsoseme. Cumberland finished the 1st quarter with 4 assists. At half Nsoeme led the team in points (8) and rebounds (5). At half Logan Johnson had played more minutes (6) then Justin Jenifer (5).

RE: McGill Game
Final score 79-53.

Box score
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DkCiBCrU0AAsDgS.jpg:large

Things that stand out.

Nsoseme didn't play in the second half and Brooks played only 2 minutes in the 2nd half (Brooks fouled out while playing a total of 7 minutes). Nsoseme led us in both points and rebounds at half, so a little strange to sit him. Nsoseme still finished tied for the team lead with 5 rebounds, despite playing only 12 minutes.

Logan Johnson finished with 17 minutes to Justin Jenifers 5. I know it's just an exhibition game and substitutions and playing time don't really mean much. But still a good sign for those hoping Johnson takes some/all of Jenifers minutes. Logan finished with 4 assists and 2 TO's.

Cumberland finally had a not terrible game shooting from 3 (2-5). Though he shot only 5-15 from the field while scoring a team leading 17 points. He's been quantity over quality over the three exhibition games.

Nsoseme went 6-6 from the FT line.

Fredericks was very efficient. Scored 12 points on 4-4 shooting (2-2 from 3). Though only 2-4 from the FT line.

seven combined offensive rebounds for soso and tre. i hope that translates. at least i think that's good. i know it's early, but i'd never think i'd see soso advance over brooks. not saying like it's not hard to pass nysier on the depth chart, just how i felt about soso. that'd be sweet if he turned into the next bill russell

Yeah, Tre and Nsoseme are offensive rebounding machines. Last year per 40 minutes they averaged more offensive rebounds then Gary Clark. I think it will continue this year.

I didn't expect to see so much of Nsoseme either. But for the opposite reason as I loved Nsoseme last year. I thought Brooks would take a big step in development over the summer. Instead, Brooks couldn't stay in the first exhibition game and fouled out in 7 minutes in this one. Barring a miracle in Brooks development it looks like he's going to be a dissapointment who is an average backup at best. Luckily, Nsoseme looks like a potential future NBA starter, so Brooks lack of development doesn't hurt too much.

I see Nsoseme as a 15 minute guy this season; however, I expect him to impact the game in a positive way time he is out there. Brooks seems like a 5 to 10 minute sub as this point.

This season is all about Cuberland becoming a first team level player and two other guys around him playing at a high level.

Agreed on Brooks, he has been a disaster so far, major dissapointment for a junior. I'm hoping for more like 20-25 minutes from Nsoseme though. Either that or for Diarra to be a major contributor. If Nsoseme can only give 15 minutes and Brooks 5-10, Tre Scott isn't going to get much time to rest. Between starting at the 4 and playing 10-15 minutes as an undersized 5, Scott will start to wear down. Someone besides Scott needs to help carry the load. The only 2 likely to do that are Nsoseme and Diarra and Diarra is still a mystery at this point. Hardnett possibly could provide some minutes as well.

Hardnett seems like a likely redshirt after seeing such little PT over the past few games.

Definitely possible, it's what a lot of people seem to think. I think he's got a shot though. He's big enough to play the 4 and the competition for the backup 4 role isn't exactly settled. If Scott is playing 10-15 minutes at the 5, that leaves about 20 minutes at 4 that somebody besides Scott has to fill. Fredericks can take some of that, but if he's the starting 3, he will need some rest as well.

That would leave 10-15 minutes at the 4 and only Hardnett/Diarra have the size to fill it. Diarra has a year of experience over Hardnett and the size to play the 5, so he has to be the favorite. But, we haven't seen Diarra play in almost a year. Until he gets on the court and proves he can play, I'm not writing Hardnett off as a redshirt. Even if Diarra is the primary backup, Hardnett could probably get 5 minutes per game as a sub (at the 3/4 if Cronin has us pressing all game), he might choose that over redshirting.

Ha, that's what FANatics do. I didn't watch any of the games, but I would have hard time believing that Diarra would play over any of the returning bigs. He didn't seem to have any idea of how to play in a system. Hopefully, he proves me wrong.

RE: McGill Game
When I saw that 16 posters had replied to a Duane thread, I figured it was all "blah blah... you suck Duane" or something. This time almost everyone ended up talking about the games. Good thread 04-bow

Too bad about Brooks. 90% of his issues seem to be above the shoulders. Thus far, I have expected much more.

It's not a good thing when someone's a junior and the game still isn't slowing down. I feel bad for him. I wonder what a sports shrink could do?
