RE: UNC Suspends 13 FB players
Rather than searching for a scapegoat, why not address the underlying problems?

1. Years of cheating and gifts under the table at UNC-Ch, all the while claiming to be the perfect organization that does not encourage and promote win at all cost attitudes.
2. Years of allowing sleazeballs to hang around campus and constantly bailing out players found with guns, drugs, and/or assaulting students and other players as well as bailing out successful coaches whose behaviors have created huge legal bills and settlements.
3. Years of a board and an administration that turned a blind eye to anything as long as UNC-CH was winning from parents of athletes being hired into high paying jobs they were not qualified for to allowing athletes to live in coaches' houses.
4. The creating of a hypocrisy so deep that you no longer have a "clean" person in the organization, and the taint carries over to the conference office and poisons relationships with other schools.

Funneling money to players is not new. Only Carolina does it and claims they don't with a straight face. SEC and B10 schools have the common decency to demur.

Most kids on campus never take a class with a football or basketball player. Most rank and file students have no idea how ill-prepared or dumb some of the male athletes are at UNC. So ill-prepared that the kids are pitied by some of the faculty.

As long as you push the hype and the lies the system runs itself when there is no scrutiny. Now that the media and internet looks, the "Carolina Way" is shown for what it is - a fraud.

The problem is that the investment in the fraud is so great, that some folks can't let go, admit the facts, and stop looking for scapegoats like Butch Davis, Bubba, Dickie, Holden, etc., etc. You need to look at some of your boosters and the culture you have created.

Quote:"I am certainly upset by our players' actions and how their choices reflect on them, our program and the University," Fedora said in a statement. "These young men knew the rules and are being held responsible for the poor choices they have made. Accountability is an important core principle in this program. We will learn from this and aim to do better in the future."

Head football coach making over $2 million/year issues self-righteous statement about unpaid football players making a couple hundred bucks on the side. What a load of 01-rivals 01-rivals 01-rivals

This is one of those "DUH!" moments. Whoever authorized the distribution of shoes should be terminated for stupidity.

These shoes are valuable. Kids buy them and then turn around and sell them for a profit. They aren't doing anything anybody else doesn't do. This is a violation of NCAA rules, but the biggest fault goes on whoever set them up to violate the rules--unless they made it very clear they couldn't sell them.
