i just read a book by ta-nehisi coates that essentially says that. cuz white folk created the great black american ghetto. which imo isn't strictly something solely white people do. is there any society which doesn't have some minority living in abject conditions?

If you control for income and having kids out of wedlock, the incarceration rate is probably pretty similar for all racial ethnic groups. 75% of black kids born out of marriage. I read somewhere that non black women (mostly white women) that get pregnant by black men, 98% of these kids....out of marriage.

That first paragraph is one of the most ridiculous parts. My Russian born son has gotten followed around in stores. I got followed around in stores when I was in my teens and 20s. I thought it was amusing. Since my Dad was in retail, I was just about the least likely person in that store to shoplift. Maybe Blacks tend to be hypersensitive about it, but it happens to all young people. I bet some guards follow around cute blondes on the hope they may shoplift.

I remember getting followed around in a store. I had fun with it and kept zigzagging around clothes racks, going up and down isles at a fast pace, practically breaking that poor security guards ankles with my swift moves. I have no idea what he was after, but I had fun with and eventually left the store.

I'm just trying to throw a bone to the other side. I don't how much of this "______ while black" is real and how much is in people's heads (a lot of it certainly could be), but honestly, it doesn't matter. I'm more concerned that you can't talk about social and economic gaps between white people and black people in any way other than "it's white people's fault" or else you're a racist.
