You know it really is awesome to see big ED represent Houston and looks great for the AAC too
It should help big time recruits to decide to join an AAC team
I just hope big ED scores a TD and a few sacks against Memphis, we’re gonna need it
Damn Memphis pisses me off

I see that Ed is also currently #1 on Kiper's board. It would be great pub for UH and the AAC if he were to go #1 in next year's draft.

Milton should without a doubt be higher. ESPN has guys on the list who hardly have played a snap.

Multiple inferior QBs in front of MM simply because his jersey has "AAC" on it.

What a joke.

If Oliver stays injury free he's definitely going #1... In the bag.

Thatd be huge. It’s defintely prove the false narrative that playing in “bigger” conferences will be the best opportunity to go high in the draft. Another nail in the coffin of B12 recruiting advantages.

in 2013 central michigan's eric fisher was the #1 overall pick. opinions rarely change based on that kinda thing. recruits can see it happening over and over, but yet they are still seduced by the names. it takes a special kind of personality that wants to forge their own path.

Quarterbacks are an anomaly you can climb the rankings fairly easily from a non power program.

OL is another place you will see someone pop up from time to time (see UTEP OL last year).

With these guys though they were unheralded coming into college.

Basically the NFL will find talent wherever it may be regardless of what name was on their college jersey but a talent like Oliver is unique.

He was the first 5 star talent to sign outside of the P5 and of course he has delivered on that promise.

The message this sends is if you are top tier talent you can have the same amount of success playing for someone besides the Bama's, UT's, etc of the world.

We may be (for now and possibly forever) blocked from a chance at a NC but if you have higher goals......

but fisher wasnt high profile at all, 99% of people didnt even really know about him till a few weeks before the draft...fisher also wasn't an elite recruit ..his position as a o-line made him almost insignificant in media realm

the ed oliver situation is completely different. he has a chance to really alter the recruiting landscape if he does end up a top 5 pick....

Ed was super high profile in high school, (#4 recruit in the nation, that passed up every major program in the nation), and houston made a media spectacle about it with the "#HtownTakeover" movement.. He then went on to be the #1 ranked freshmen in the nation (the only freshmen who was all-american..better than all the other 5stars)...and a consensus all-american as a sophomore (consider a lock as a top 5 pick had he been eligible)

fisher was never named a first team all-american by any major publication...ed is going on close to 15 and has only played 2 years...
he is already the most decorated non-p5/non-AQ recruit in history (since the divide happened) can you imagine if he can stay healthy and produces another year

almost every single of our games will be nationally televised on a major channel becuase of ed, and he is rumored to be the featured heavily on espn the magazine the college edition (might even be the cover) and has filmed numerous espn specials

even right now ive already seen SO MANY g5 teams recruit use the line "you could be the next ed oliver" and he hasnt even been drafted yet

ed has been vocal about it...
--that he was told by numerous coaches that if he came to UH he was making the biggest mistake of his life
--that almost every coach used the g5 thing against houston
--constantly heard the line that theyd double team him every play & with no talent around him and he wouldnt be able to produce

i guarantee every single elite recruit is hearing the same thing...which is why it took almost 30 years (since the beginning of recruit rankings) for a 5star to choose a non/aq--g5..ed oliver

no one wanted to be the first and potentially ruin their lives on an experiment.. but once someone else has done it and it is a proven path ..the road is paved and more will be willing to follow

im not saying it will even it out, cause playing for a championship is still a factor..but if ed is drafted top 5, one of the biggest hurdles will be cleared

more proof of his impact, espn just tweeted the top 5...50 comments, not a single comment complaining about why ed is #1
https://twitter.com/ESPNCFB/status/1026527248797638657

mostly complaining about why grier is #3

Milton at 20 is too low, he’s probably near 10
