If you go back to his SR highlights you'll see Spencer is very fast. But with an extra long stride. If he worked with a track or running coach maybe they could get him to shorten his stride. Get those legs pushing off a little more often he could have blazing speed. Then convert him to a WR or TE.

Pretty sure he came here because we are letting him play QB. Otherwise he would have taken that offer from UVA.

I know that. His cousin told me the morning his commitment was announced. However, coming here with a chance to play QB, and becoming a college QB are two different things. Odds are he redshirts this year. And lets say that he continues to play QB here but doesn't see a lot of playing time since SW is a true sophomore. Add to that the highly rated Wolff commitment. He may have to switch positions to get playing time.

Im sure they will give him a year or 2 at QB. But, he's not playing QB for us anytime soon unless the we have some major injuries.

I know Spencer's dad. Isaiah is a great athlete, but a very raw QB. Honestly, the way we've recruited the QB position over the last couple of years, I'd be shocked if he doesn't switch positions. UVA offered him as a LB--a position he never played in high school. He's got great genes to add a ton of muscle weight. His dad is an absolute beast!

Can the interviewer please ask about more interesting and important things such as who is looking good in camp, changes in schemes, position battles, injuries, etc. All he asks about everyday is the weather, what drills they are doing and how the older players are mentoring the younger players and how they like being upperclassmen. Give us something of interest here!

It’s very basic reporting, but it’s better than what we get for basketball.

In his recent article, Ed wrote that LaLa Davis had some good moments.

With that in mind, I went back to look at his hudl video, and I really think this young man will contribute significantly this year. The video is 19 minutes long and is full of -- well -- just plain outstanding highlights. Here it is if you want to take a look. The first play itself will water your eyes.

Cheers.

Its possible, but RB is one of the toughest positions to break in at as a freshman due to the complexity of the position. You have to learn protections, which is really difficult for young kids. Remember Lawry was behind Boyd and Gerard Johnson for some of his freshman year....and those guys are nothing like Strong/Cox. There is a lot of competition at the spot and unless he really breaks through, it would probably be best if he redshirts.

If he plays more than 4 games this year, he must be an absolute stud.

LaLa is one of the freshman Im most excited to see play. If he's as good as advertised, he may be the next Ray Lawry. Being able to see the true freshman play in 4 games should make things interesting.

Agree AGGIE, his highlights make him look like he is as slick as butter with the bounce factor. His opponents had a hard time bringing him down and he bounced off many defenders and stayed on his feet. He defiantly has some moves and is low to the ground. Looking forward to seeing him this year. I hope that the running backs are as strong as everyone feels that squad will be.

Lets go take Liberty's lunch money and get ready for a war with FIU in Norfolk.

Donta Anthony is our 6-6 Freshman TE. Is he getting first team reps?

In Ed's last article, he mentioned the true freshman would be getting mixed in with the others to see how they respond since they can now play 4 games without losing their redshirt.

I would expect most players get first team reps. Wilder mentioned that since the rule changed to players can redshirt with 4 games played, he wants to see what they can do right away.

Im really excited about the White/Haynes sacks. These are guys we need for the future.

In the video, Anthony looks like he can move for a bigger guy. He almost looks like Duhart.

RE: Camp: Sights and sounds
Sounds like it was a good day for SW and the offense today as they went at it in full pads for the first time. Here is an extract from the Day Five Practice Report.

"The offense dominated the first session of the day, working on third and fourth and short scenarios. Jeremy Cox, Kesean Strong and Gemonta Jackson led the way for the offense.

During the end of game situation, the offense won a nailbiter. Steven Williams tossed a 50-yard touchdown pass to Scott McCluney, while Matt Geiger went for a 40-yard run to clinch the competition.

The offense completed the hat trick on the day by winning the goal line drill, scoring touchdowns from Williams, two from Jackson, Isaiah Spencer, and touchdown passes from Williams to Marcus Joyner and Keion White."

Reading the article I came away wondering how much time Arnold and Larussa got. No mention of either. Good to read K. White caught a TD pass.
