Panther's choke but not really--but really against the Skins today. I didn't get a chance to see any of the game so...

Other scores I found interesing:

Dallas CRUSHING the Jags. WTF to both performances.

Chargers dismantling the Browns. Not saying I am surprised they won.... Just the Browns haven't laid an egg that big this year.

Seahawks crushing the Raiders. Gruden Year One is looking bad LOL.

Dolphins getting the OT win over the Bears... nice to see the Dolphins getting back on track from their slip.

In a completely unsurprising development, the NFL is worried about the Chargers.

Quote:Sources told Wickersham, however, that the Chargers are expected to revise their initial Inglewood revenue goal from $400 million down to $150 million.

That's pretty horrible, of course, but what are they going to do? Kick 'em out of LA? How? To where?

It is horrible because if the Chargers' revenue is reduced by that much, then, coupled with the $650 million relocation fee they have to pay off in annual installments, they can't turn a profit in LA.

The league would never force Spanos to leave. But, they could give him incentives. Tell him that if the Chargers leave before moving into KroenkeWorld, they don't have to pay the $650 million relocation fee, and won't have to pay any relocation fee for moving elsewhere. And tell him that if there are any interested buyers, the league will quickly approve a sale of the team.

Well, they can't waive the fee - that would be a bad precedent - but they could reduce it. Where would they go? San Antonio? Portland? San Diego??? (ha - couldn't resist the last one) Are they now damaged goods?

The NFL can waive the fee if the Chargers move. They already changed the terms so that the fee isn't due (for either the Rams or Chargers) until the Inglewood stadium opens.

As for where: San Diego would work with a new owner, but not with Spanos still involved. I think the Cowboys and Texans would block San Antonio. I think the Bills would block Toronto, and the NFL doesn't want to hurt the CFL. I think the 49ers would block Oakland, but might not object to Sacramento. Portland doesn't seem like the kind of place that would pay for a stadium to get a team. If we want to get creative, how about finding new ownership for the Jaguars, and letting Khan buy the Chargers and move them to London.

I don't think they can just waive the fee for Spanos if he finds another city. Changing the terms of the payment seems more likely.

And I don't think Spanos wants to sell. He moved them to LA to increase the franchise value but I think he may have lowered it. He's in a tough spot; so's the NFL. My expectation is they will do nothing except invest heavily in magical thinking.

RE: 2018-19 NFL Thread
The Raiders' relocation fee is far less than the Rams' and Chargers'. If the NFL doesn't want to let the Chargers off the hook completely, then reduce the relo fee to what the Raiders will pay, and waive it entirely if the Chargers return to San Diego. IMO the NFL can't reduce the fee for the Chargers if they stay in LA, because then they'd have to give the same reduction to the Rams.

I agree that it doesn't seem like Spanos wants to sell, and that's the biggest problem the Chargers have.

RE: 2018-19 NFL Thread
funny I heard Cowherd say today that the Colts will make the playoffs....

I really don't think so..... Bengals are 2 games up on them right now- and Bengals have both Browns games left along with games with Oakland, Baltimore, and Denver. If they can win 4 of those games- even if they lose to New Orleans, LA Chargers, and Pittsburgh(last game of season) they would be 9-7.

Colts are 3-5. So to tie the Bengals at 9-7, they would need to go 6-2. But Cincy has tiebreaker head to head. So Colts would need 7-1 to beat them. Don't see that at all.....

Yeah, Dak is simply not the answer. I thought it was really telling during the CBS broadcast of the Dallas game. Romo telestrating the plays where Prescott refused to let it fly was pretty damning. The post bye week performance on Monday night was just the nail in the coffin.

Man, the Panthers really laid an egg last night. I have not seen the team play that poorly on offense and defense in one game this year so far like I saw last night. Can't let Cam get eaten up like that and you gotta stop someone too.

Maybe the LeVeon factor for the Steelers has galvanized them into how they are playing of late. I think he is playing with fire if he sits out an entire season and costs himself that kind of money. Playing the game the way he has might spook other teams and the Steelers might be unable to trade him.

RE: 2018-19 NFL Thread
man I think the Jags got absolutely ******. But not with the fumble call..... Colts got it with 1:30 to go. 2 1 second kneels. So with 40 second clock, they should snap it on 3rd down with about 8 seconds to go. Nope. Colts timers didn't start the 40 second clock both times for a good 2-3 seconds.. 3rd down wasn't snapped until there was about 5 seconds to go..... And the Jags had a timeout left to call after 3rd down....

RE: 2018-19 NFL Thread
The NFL moved Monday night's Chiefs-Rams game from Mexico City to Los Angeles. It was a Rams home game anyway, but was going to be played in Mexico City until the NFL finally caved in and admitted that the current condition of the Mexico City field (see photos below) was unacceptable. The league won't admit it, but they were pretty much forced to cave in after Rams and Chiefs players started talking publicly about not playing in the game if it went on at Estadio Azteca.

The Saints.... WOW....

Right now, IMO, the Saints, Rams, and Chiefs look well ahead of everyone else. In the second tier I'd put the Patriots, the Chargers, and the Steelers.

So the Alex Smith/Joe Theisman injuries are freakishly similar
both happened on Nov 19
both were at home
both happened with Skins around the 40 yard line
both final scores were 23-21.
