RE: When is the LU vs. ODU smack talk going to begin?

The stadium was beautiful, the night was beautiful, you’re student section was super impressive. Congrats on the win and good luck the rest of the season. You guys are probably riding pretty high right now. I’m going to try to salvage the rest of this Labor Day weekend by forgetting about college football and focus on more important things, spending time with family and beer. Congrats again.
MT, that is a quality post especially expressed in the woes of being defeated. I hope this Lu bashing instills some soul searching for the ODU coaches. I gotta believe, for this one time, Gill and his staff were better prepared than the ODU coaches. And that is a rarity. Good luck the rest of the season. And LU fans should pull for ODU to win every remaining game as that will only help LU. Quality post MT. Good luck remainder of the season.

Rooting for y'all. I really don't think you guys have a bad team at all. I'm not familiar with the rest of your schedule and I might be bias but you won't face a talented WR like AGG the rest of the year. NFL scouts are VERY HIGH on him. The same can be said with Buckshot. In 2014 after we upset App State, they ran off 6 straight wins so you guys will be good!
As for the Baptist Side. Jr and Liberty needs to improve the relations with the locals and the alumni that he aligned during the election. I know a lot that refuse to give or go back to Liberty until he steps down from President. Weather definitely hurt the walk up crowd but we can easily sell out if he just works on improving the relationships that he wrecked.
LUB, insightful observation of attendance and the impact of Jrs actions and statements. Let's hope Jr. either gains that insight on his own or someone who shares you keep perception gives him some straight talk. LU needs to expand beyond the memberships of the school and church. As example, the majority of ND fans did not go to ND as there are hundreds of thousands or more of ND fans, and many are not likely catholic. They are just fans who support the program. LU needs to have that vision. And being a quality program that wins helps attract and keep those fans. I am one of those fans and there are potentially many more fans who are not aligned with the school/church who are could be fans locally, regionally and especially nationally.

I think you are vastly underestimating the percentage of Notre Dame fans who are Catholic. Sure, they have fans who jumped on the bandwagon during their heyday but the majority are Catholic.

LU is like ND in that those who go to the schools are mostly supporters of each school. But ND, unlike LU has a true national if not even global following. There is a reason NBC aligned it's broadcast with ND. It was not because of it being a catholic institution. It's because millions and millions of eyeballs watch and root for ND. Are the majority of those eyeballs catholic, I think not? The viewing fans, who are the majority and not catholic, watch because ND is an institution with mystique, Knute Rockne, one for the gipper and more. Not because ND is a catholic institution.
LU has done a good job in building a base of support from it's followers. It created a foundation that is sound. And LU, with it's FBS ambition can learn much from what ND has done. And do most people follow BYU because of their Mormon beliefs. No, they follow because they like and support their program. As LU advances, if it clings to it's current position and does not do an outreach, it will achieve less in recognition and success.

I have nothing to back this up, but I'd suspect that the % of ND fans that are not catholic is a lot higher than the % of BYU fans that are not Mormons. I just cannot picture a non-Mormon being much more than neutral concerning BYU.

And one could say that currently, LU is much more slanted to fans who are part of the school or church and has not, as yet attracted the casual fan. How many VA or VT fans went to school there or just fans of the programs? A HUGE percentage.

RE: When is the LU vs. ODU smack talk going to begin?
I framed my tickets and game coin today.....LOL. The game coin was given to the first 1000 folks in the stadium and was used for the coin toss. Pretty nice coin and it is historic. First FBS game ever and it’s a home game that we blew out.....why wouldn’t I frame it....LOL.

I’ve been planning on doing that with my season tickets and the coin as well.
