Huge advocate of the Tribe for many years. He, unlike Kornheiser never let fame change him as a person. Great author and history buff.

RE: Jimmye’s Retirement
The article was well done. I don't always love everything Feinstein writes or says, but he did a good job here. I think he is an excellent author. I prefer his books and columns to his live basketball analysis during games. He is a very strong advocate for the smaller schools and conferences.

Any mention of whether the Laycock football camp will continue or not?

It's a Nike camp. I believe football switches to Under Armour when Laycock retires. If that is the case, I'd assume a football camp would still occur but likely without NFL players.

Most colleges have gone away from youth football camps. The Nike camp has been a youth camp that had a limited amount of high school kids there. Over the years we have had only 1 or 2 high school 1 day camps each summer and they have had small numbers. The emphasis moving forward should be to get as many high schoolers to showcase talents and see our facilities as possible. I would hope the new staff has a handful of these 1 day camps this summer to maximize the pool of recruits. Got to full court press recruiting and expand the pool outside of our normal recruiting circles

To my knowledge, he never bothered to apologize for being dead wrong in his reporting on the Duke lacrosse mess!

RE: Jimmye’s Retirement
How is that relevant to my quote?

BTW, he wasn't the only one that got that wrong including a university and the NCAA. I worked briefly with one of the key people involved's father. A lot of those kids were targets because of money and privilege. An over zealous local police force botched it and the garbage avalanche followed. We all know the story.

RE: Jimmye’s Retirement
The article about it is pretty interesting. The way he planned it, and then almost didn't do it down 31 points. Cool to see the team get it back to a bit more respectable so it didn't "look bad" walking out on a 30+ point blowout.

I know you all will have a great day Saturday as you celebrate Coach Laycock’s outstanding career. A great coach and leader. Good luck vs Richmond.

I have come to the conclusion that we knew what we had in JL, but when he retires after tomorrow, we will realize that, in some ways, we didn't know what we had in JL. Remarkable tributes for a remarkable coach of a remarkable institution.

Legendary.

Now that Jimmye is officially retired, any words on who might be on our radar to replace him?

RE: Jimmye’s Retirement
There's a comment on the Richmond board from someone who said they had a source that said Mike London was being interviewed. There may be no validity to that, and I hope we have some candidates who bring far more potential to the table than that.

RE: Jimmye’s Retirement
Thanks for 39 years of total commitment Coach Laycock!!

Coach finished his last game as he coached his career- putting the players first and doing it the RIGHT WAY with class. Thanks Coach Laycock for all the AWESOME moments you gave us. I must agree with him that the 2004 Semifinal game in our house was the best of many!

Maybe I'm late mentioning this, but how about that Jimmye tribute video at halftime. That was awesome. The production crew once again amazes.
