Two possibilities here:

1. The judge is batsh*t, barking-at-the-moon insane; or
2. There is a whole lot more to the story than what’s come out so far.

Most judges are leftist in NM. They've let cop and child killers out on bail, even with video, DNA and eye witness's providing evidence/testimony.

Just got an alert that the judge allowed their release ahead of trial.

Fantastic, there are 5 literal jihadis on the loose tonight.

Even so. Unless the evidence is just dramatically at-odds with the media-reporting (and I certainly don’t rule that out), a bond of $20k in a case like this, is in a different universe than simply “liberal” or “leftist.”

Quick summary:
1. Kidnap your own 3-year/old child, who has extreme health/medical issues.
2. Take child out of state, over a thousand miles away from custodial parent
3. Keep child at remote/primitive living-area
4. Observe (at minimum. Possibly cause) child’s death, and keep the fact secret from everyone else. Bury child on property and continue with your own life.
5. Add-in the weird sh*t with all the weapons and all the other kids, whose relationships are unclear to me so far.

That’s not a $20k bond type of case. Just isn’t. Something seriously wrong with that judge... *Unless* the facts are way more favorable to the Defendant(s) than what the media is letting on.

Quote:FBI agent Travis Taylor testified that one of the children now in state custody told him that before the boy died, prayers were said over him to remove bad spirits. Abdul-Ghani’s mother had reported to police in Georgia that he took medicine for seizures and had other medical issues.

Prosecutor John Lovelace said the boy died in February during one of the rituals.

Taylor said he was told that the dead child was supposed to be resurrected as Jesus and identify for the group the institutions that were to be attacked.

During such attacks, Taylor said, “When they approached the individual, they would tell them their message. If they didn’t believe the message, they would be killed or detained until they believed the message.”

Quote:The state judge who on Monday set a $20,000 bail for five defendants arrested at a remote New Mexico compound where authorities say children were being trained to conduct school shootings has a history of issuing low bail to violent offenders.

Judge Sarah Backus, an elected Democrat, ordered the two men and three women to wear ankle monitors, have weekly contact with their attorneys and not consume alcohol or own firearms while on bail. She said although she was concerned by “troubling facts,” prosecutors failed to articulate any specific threats to the community.

Quote:Monday isn't the first time Backus has issued low bail for suspects accused of violent crimes.

Just last month, she set a $10,000 bond for Rafael Orozco, a 24-year-old Taos man accused of battering his girlfriend, his newborn child and a health care worker at Holy Cross Hospital in September 2016.

Quote:According to the New Mexico Courts website, Backus was first appointed to the bench in June 2011 by Republican Gov. Susana Martinez. She was elected to the post in 2012 and is expected to remain there until at least 2020.

Prior to her appointment to the bench, Backus – a graduate of the University of California Hastings College of the Law – served as a deputy public defender and deputy Attorney General in San Francisco. She's lived in Taos since 1994.

Martinez issued a statement after Monday’s hearing saying she “strongly disagreed” with the outcome and Backus’ decision.

“Unfortunately, it highlights how extreme the New Mexico Supreme Court has been in dictating pretrial release for all kinds of dangerous criminals,” she said.

The only saving grace is Wahhaj is probably going to remain in jail because of his child abduction warrants out of Georgia. Why the feds havn't issued federal anti-terrorism warrants in this case is beyond me.

Quote:TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) - The Taos County Courthouse has been locked down by the sheriff's department because of ongoing threats to court staff and the judge.

According to officials, no one can enter the courthouse for the rest of the afternoon.

The judge who ordered the release of the adults accused of starving 11 children on a compound in Taos County has been receiving threats.

According to her office, Judge Sarah Backus has come under attack in social media, email and through telephone calls.

Governor Susana Martinez is among those who had strong words about the decision.

On Facebook Tuesday, the governor called it a result of "liberal pretrial release rules put in place by the New Mexico Supreme Court."

She also said it was judicial activism at its worst.

There has been a lot of debate about just how much evidence is required to prove a person is a danger and keep them locked up until trial.

Tuesday Judge Backus's office said it's her responsibility to "fairly and impartially apply the law and make a decision based on the evidence presented in court, not a popular sentiment."

Full statement from Governor Susana Martinez:

The dangerous accused criminals in the Taos compound case should never have been released on bail yesterday. This is the result of liberal pretrial release rules put in place by the New Mexico Supreme Court—judicial activism at its worst—and something I have spoken out against for years.

Unfortunately, this case isn’t the first time dangerous criminals have been released back into our communities after committing heinous crimes. Just a few weeks ago, Dahn Leidy—who was high on meth and brutally beat her one year-old daughter so badly that the little girl had to be put into a medically induced coma—was released on bail after the judge determined that she was not a danger to others. In another recent case Alexis Rogers was charged with murder in a drive by shooting while she was out on bail. She also hosted a party where a 21 year old was murdered. Unfortunately, these cases are just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s time to put a stop to the revolving door in our justice system and keep dangerous criminals in jail where they belong.

Quote:SANTA FE – The Taos judge who ruled that five adults arrested at a remote northern New Mexico compound can be released from jail is receiving threats via telephone, e-mail and social media.

There have been threats of physical violence, said Barry Massey, spokesman for the Administrative Office of the Courts.

“One caller said she wished someone would come and smash the judge’s head,” said Massey.

About 3 p.m. Friday, the Taos government and courthouse complex was closed because of the threats.
Massey said that while no one could enter the courthouse for the rest of the afternoon, staff continues to work inside and a civil trial – not involving Judge Backus – went on. News reporters were told the leave.
“At least one caller threaten violence against all staff in the courthouse,” Massey said.

To think that at one time El Paso almost became part of NM. Unbelievable that this state has become (I'm sorry Crimson) a total shiitehole. It's no wonder they voted for Clingon. I heard Governor Martinez was angry at the judge and couldn't believe that she would do something so stupid. I guess Marty rues the day that she helped this judge get her office. Well, the judge is a Demon so what could we expect? Demons like evil doers.

Bunch a sissy pants.

I feel like a death threat should be more along the lines of "I will find you and kill you while you sleep" as opposed to the quote above.

It has and most of it is because of the decisions and indecision's made in Santa Fe. Business and people are moving out. Whether its Republican or Democrat Governor in charge the state goes backwards. I blame the Democrat controlled legislature for the last 70 years or so.

If the world ever goes to hell, I plan to go to Texas!

I plan on singlehandedly commandeering the USS George Washington and sailing 12 miles offshore to start my own Mad Max Waterworld kingdom.

Quote:TAOS COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) - Prosecutors say they plan to appeal the decision to release the suspects in the Amalia compound case.

Despite the judge's decision, the boy's father Siraj Wahhaj will remain locked up because he has an outstanding warrant for kidnapping out of Georgia.

ICE has also taken 35-year-old Jany Leveille who is originally from Haiti into their custody.

The judge said the other three can be released once they secure housing.

It's unclear how quickly prosecutors will file their appeal.

Where are the dems to say she is a dreamer and needs to stay?

On another note: NM CYFD has no plans at this time to allow the parents of the 11 children to see them or enroll the children in school.
