MyBB WAC Players Going Pro
What a fun time of year this is shaping up to be. Not only are some WAC teams getting back on campus to prep for foreign tours (UTRGV - Coast Rica, NMSU - Spain, GCU - Bahamas), but it seems like there is a lot of news swirling about former WAC Players signing their pro contracts.

I believe I saw Jemerrio and Zach Lofton got G League invites. Casey Benson signed with a Slovenian team today. May have also seen something about UTRGV's Hoffman getting on with a ball club overseas. Didn't know if there are more announcements and signings coming, but thought it'd be worth starting a thread in case we want to track WAC alumni pro signings.

How can GCU take another trip abroad when they went to Spain last year?

They appealed to NCAA after last year's trip was cut short by terrorist attack in Spain. I'm not sure GCU even got a game in before they had to pack up and head home.

Lofton earned a training camp deal with the Pistons. Most likely heading to their G-League team.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a link to this info? Does that mean he will not participate in the invitational after all?

Happy for Vernon. Sat with his family at the WAC tournament and had a great time with them along with some Utah Valley fans who were parents of one of the players. Just like losing Russell was huge for GCU, losing Vernon is going to be huge as well.

RE: WAC Players Going Pro
Is anyone surprised by the names of last season's WAC seniors that we haven't heard about signing anywhere yet? Even though I've "heard" he will be playing overseas this Fall, there has been no official announcement out of GCU or Joshua Braun's camp on if/where he'll be signed. I also expected that Akolda Manyang would be scooped up by a club pretty quickly. Other seniors I may have expected to see sign pro contracts are Jordan Hill and (maybe to a lesser degree) Moataz Aly.

I'm sorry but Braun getting a "pro" contract is a joke. I thought the same thing when Menzies recruited that Hispanic kid from El Paso kid that Aggie fans called Wolverine, don't even remember his name. Dude never played and he got a "pro" contract in Mexico. That's about what Braun is worth. Braun is wasting his time pursuing basketball. He stinks. Dude has a master's degree. Get a job Josh. You seem like a nice young man and you had a good freshman year. Unfortunately you are not pro basketball material.

Rene Esparza. He was only an average basketball player at the JC level. He just had a following in the border community to the south but he wasn't pro material.

I think Braun's knee injuries all but eliminated a pro basketball future. Unfortunately for the GCU fans, the best version of Braun was as a freshman. If not for playing with a high basketball IQ while at GCU, Braun's basketball abilities were on a decline.

Random and unrelated, but I found out after last season one of my good friends brother is actually a cousin to Zach Lofton.
