Aaron Coombs..who hit two free throws in the 2003 NCAA tournament to put UNCW ahead of Maryland - before the heart breking Drew Nicholas shot - is the new head coach of the Panhandle State Aggies.

After UNCW, Coombs spent five years competing in France, Romania and China where he was the leading scorer on all three teams and was named MVP while playing in Shanghai.

Good for him. Aaron was a very big (no pun intended) part of our team during the early 2000s. Good to see him doing well.

Aaron comes from a really nice family and is a good guy. His mom got me and my friend Joe tickets for the VCU vs UNCW championship game in 2002 in Richmond. You know, the game that everybody was banging the thundersticks or whatever you call them. He really improved a ton at the Dub and was a terrific player by the time he was a senior.
