RE: 2018 Bearcats Football Season Commences: Friday, August 3rd Camp Higher Ground
Question. It looks like 7 walk on's this year. Is this about normal?
I remember seeing a few walk on's during TT's years, but I don't remember this many. Seems like I remember larger walk on #s pre TT. Does anyone have records?
Thanks

Quote:// ADDING TO THE ROSTER
The Bearcats added several players to the roster with graduate transfers, transfers and walk-ons joining the team. LB Tinashe Bere (Duke), OL Dino Boyd (Rhode Island), CB Cameron Jefferies (Bowling Green) and LB Jaylyn McKinney (Liberty) come to Cincinnati as graduate transfers while OL Darius Harper (Miami OH) and WR Aulden Knight (Hampton) join the team as transfers.
S Will Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mason), QB John Keller (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover), LB Nate Lawler (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-Valley), CB Jake Tewart (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon), RB Colin Thurman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller), OL Colin Truett (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) and OL Ethan Voelker (Cincinnati, Ohio/Taylor) were also added to the roster.

I'll have at least one player video every practice. Fickell most days, and when he's not available I'll get another player or assistant. Garrett Campbell and Perry Young today...

So happy Coach and the players are making themselves available. Keep us posted on the DEE Line too. Thanks again Brother and keep up the great work covering our Cats!

I don't know about past years, but i can say that CLF has been very vocal and intentional about bringing in local kids as walk ons since he's been here. What you're seeing is the execution of that strategy.

Been away on family vacation. Posting this video from Chad from Friday before the Saturday scrimmage - I also hear Dan Hoard's voice among others...
Here's another one after the scrimmage...
Scrimmage takeaways:
Michael Warren making impact running the rock.
Michael Pitts opening some eyes on the DL.
Starting QB remains open competition between Moore and Ridder.

So I just watched the Michael Pitts interview. Un real that the whole country club mentality of the last regime was brought up so casually, like everyone knew and should not have been surprised by the results we saw. Are their any sports reporters in town that are worth their paycheck? People on this board brought this up and it was an obvious open secret to the so called media. What a shame, maybe if things were called out, we would not be in total re building mode for the last few years.
RE: 2018 Bearcats Football Season Commences: Friday, August 3rd Camp Higher Ground
To rtaylor's post, I don't know if the "Country Club Mentality" is a bit hyperbole (or a catchphrase) but I think we all knew it was true to some degree and it was ultimately reflected in the won-loss record and the lack of butt's in the Nip over the latter years of the former regime. The local media doesn't seem to get too jacked up one way or the other since we aren't P5. Are they covering the Cats at CHG like Chad and Dan Hoard do? I think we know the answer to that. In any event, I remain optimistic that we will further separate ourselves from the Ghost of Cadaver's past with improved play and results. More great videos from the hardest working man in Bearcats Football Media Coverage - Chad Brendel:

Maybe it's just me or maybe Fickell is getting 'interviewed out' but he seems to just be using a lot of coach-speak and cliche's more than he did when he got here. He's not as specific.

At least he didn't use the word "resilience" LOL. I'm sure interviewing a lot creates some of that. I think Coach has been open and specific when he can be. Remember the last coach who kept stating what had to get better each interview? Practice. Tackling. Defense. Smarter. Practice. Tackling. Defense. Smarter. Rinse. Repeat. Sniff. Too bad that mantra droned on for 4 seasons...
