LOL. Whatever you guys do please don’t lose to Fordham. If you do that will hurt not only you but the conference. I will be at UNCC to watch Monarchs beat the lame ass niners one more time.

Bet you had no issues watching the Cowboys with Greg Hardy or Michael Irvin.

Never forget the person making this issue about the flag and the troops got out of service 5 times with shin splints 5 times and once said “I don’t like people who get captured”

As someone who served nothing pisses me off more than someone who uses “the troops” or “he flag” as a means of control or fake forced patriotism.

Oh, but i guess it's ok to "use" the flag the way the players are. Really dumb post.
Useing the flag to make a point about injustices is our society vs. guy who just yapps “support the troops” is different sorry you can not see that.

These NFL players are at their jobs, and their jobs have nothing to do with politics. They can go out and protest or demonstrate on their own time. Let football be about football.

Their job is to play football.

RE: We’re at the Hall of Fame Game... Anyone else here?
Personally I’ve always watched my football on Saturdays, never have gotten into professional sports. College level has always seemed more pure to me. But for the record not only do I stand for the anthem, I a know the words as well. But I understand the reasons for the protests and see no disrespect. Kneel to pray but stand for the anthem. I don’t think those rules were set by God or country.

That would be Ole Bone Spur Donnie often known as Don The Con. Who is best friends with a man who crapped his pants for 3 weeks and wore it just to stay out of the same war. That would happen to be Poopy Pants Ted Nugent.

I didn't serve as Im handicapped but I know plenty of those who did, even had an uncle lose his life in the same war (he was 17 at the time) Bone Spur Donnie and Poopy Pants refused to go to. And those I know have all said they went to the military to protect our freedoms, not have overtly dishonest reasons for not having those freedoms.

I am 100% done with the NFL and 100% into college football. I don’t need a bunch of privileged, highly compensated dumb ass jocks telling me what I should believe. [/align]

I love the idea of you complaining about highly privileged highly compensated "telling you what to believe'' when you voted for maybe the spoiled privileged person on the planet. His million dollar loan and deferments.
No one is telling you what to believe except for a guy who again said "he's a hero because he got caught" also many people do not care for criminal justice reform as they elected people that are working with private prisons.
Also, I know its hard for some people wrap their head around speaking for others who might not have the voice.

Most people didn't even realize NFL players stayed in locker room for years when anthem was played, now its a big deal to fans? I guess we also need to to tell fans to respect anthem too and stop talking, looking on phone, take hat off, etc....If the camera was not on these players most would not care either...I am all for respecting the flag, anthem, military, etc but I cannot see how this would ever stop me from watching NFL football....The social agendas among NBA players seems much worse to me then this.....I refuse to let a few guys from NFL who probably couldn't even tell you what they are protesting ruin a game I love and also not letting these guys ruin my passion for fantasy football.....

Thinking NFL players are protesting the flag is like thinking Rosa Parks was protesting public transportation.

Exactly.
It used to be that way. Prior to the 2009 season the players would remain in the locker room for the national anthem.

The DOD has actually paid professional teams for patriotism.

I can't speak on the entire NFL, but I know for certain that the Carolina Panthers were in the locker rooms before the games until 9-11-2001. After that they were on the field for the National Anthem.

I remember going to games as a kid and seeing thousands of NFL fans 2 sheets to the wind screaming through the anthem, wearing hats (like Jerry Jones) everyone become patriotic hero's of the flag when it came time to tell young black men what to do.

I'm going to level with you here.... this thread is so polluted I'm not even going to try to split it. If you want to discuss this without politics, start a new topic on the CUSA board.

I can't believe it is August already. Where has the year gone ? That said, for my money:

UCF, 9-3 and going to the St. Pete Bowl
Tampa Bay: 8-8

Oh, and here is it to nobody getting hurt in the pre-season...

Too late for the Titans to make it without injury

Crazy stat, there are an average of 23 season ending ACL injuries before Week 1

As a veteran you can be Psed off all you want but just because you don't believe on what us that also served, concerning the flag, that's your right. I really don't care about their fake injustices that those entitled millionaires are kneeling for. Don't do it while at work. I know that as a firefighter and a veteran that I would be in a heap of trouble if I took it on myself to push political issues while at work. That's right, those players are at work. They get paid for producing like everyone that has a job. We can accept their stances outside of their job and perhaps some of us would even join their cause but keep it outside of your job.

You think because you served that your opinion has more weight than others that served too. Nah, I don't think so. As for McCain, he is not a hero. A hero is someone who goes far beyond his job description. For doing something that is not expected of him. He just happened, unfortunately, to have had his plane shot down as many pilots did. That he suffered sure, but many who came back from the war suffered too. People thank me for my service as if I was a hero but I'm not. I was only doing the job that I was trained to do, like McCain.

So you think because Trump didn't served that he cannot be a patriot. How many of those sniveling crybabies in the NFL actually served too but you think their protests are patriotic, not in my book.

But, as I said before, you're entitled to YOUR opinion, and that's all it is, PERIOD.

And just like any other job, we the public don't get to dictate the rules between employers and employees. And up until a couple of weeks ago it wasn't against the rules so the whole you're at work do it on your own time was a dumb argument. Now that the NFL has spoken, it's going to be interesting how this plays out this year.

It's true that we can't as the public dictate the rules they run under but like Target we sure can make it harder on them. The power of the pocketbook, plain and simple.

Yes it will and it will be because of shrinking viewership. It's all about the money and that's why the owners have been talking about it otherwise nothing would have happened.

I chimed in because I will be trying to follow the Cowboys this season, and wanted to explain why. Others brought up their issues with DJT and criminal justice statistics. Like I've said before, football should be about football.

I have a feeling most NFL threads this season will end up in the spin room.
