Joe Goodman mentioned in the comment section that he's heard the initial design will be ready by September or October.

Not sure I understand what they are talking about with the viewing area available from Uptown. If it means you could chill outside of the stadium and watch the game without actually having to go in, I'm not super pumped on that. Unless they are hoping non UAB fans will be in the area, see the game going on, and be persuaded to buy tickets to the next game?

Ever been to a Magic City Classic, 40-50,000 inside 30,000-40,000 outside.

I think the article is suggesting that the field could be designed to allow businesses/buildings with multi-story structures to see inside the stadium or the field.

Kinda like those condos that overlook Region field and when you go to a game, tenants are able to watch the game from 800 yards away.

As was as something similar when Ray watches the Alabama game from the press box at a UAB game.

Probably talking about the open end of the stadium facing Uptown so that those on the rooftop, where a big screen already is, will be able to see the game. Or maybe they will play it on the rooftop screen...

My guess is multiple party decks with a large numbers of tvs for each deck, tvs at all concessions, tvs in the bathrooms and suites, and tvs in the concourse.

It's cool for them to put in amenities to draw in casual "football" fans who like any football regardless of the team, and amenities to try to draw in Alabama and Auburn (and whatever other god forsaken SEC fans are in Birmingham) but I hope they don't go overboard to the point that it's detrimental to actual UAB fans

And I don't think they've thought through the fact that to show an Alabama or Auburn game on the big screen or even TVs on the concourse, if those rights are even for sale, is going to cost an exorbitant amount of money

The big screen they are talking about is the one in place already at Uptown. They already show the Turds play at LF now in the boxes. They are not brave enough to show the Turds instead of our game on the new jumbotron in the stadium.

They should put in a seperate jumbotron to play Alabama and Auburn games inside the stadium! Now there is a million dollar idea.

You can watch whatever game you want to in the boxes, not just Alabama. We usually surf around a few different games during the course of one UAB game.

Just being able to watch UAB while in line, etc. is a bonus.

Like anyone (right or wrong) is ever going to inquire about actually paying for rights.

I love everything about this article. My personal hope is that they'd have ESPN's Goal Line on to watch in between UAB plays. I'm a generic millennial with a short attention span, and phone reception is never good enough to stream while at a game, so having a jumbotron showing other games (or goalline) would be amazing. One of my personal biggest hurdles to attending any football game is FOMO from other games on at the same time, so most everything in this article would help with that.

Hopefully the BJCC will put in a distributed antenna system in the stadium like most new stadiums these days (and they're even being retrofitted into existing stadiums like Tuscaloosa, Auburn, etc)

With one of those, everyone in the place will have full LTE speed and coverage

Apples to Oranges. Also that classic number is more like 68,000-60,000 inside. There hasn't been an MCC below 55,000 in over 20 years.
