It's split down the middle almost 50/50. I agree that they won't terminate him outright, but they will ask for a resignation.

The polls here are of course anything but scientific. They mostly reflect the opinions of those who only closely follow those topics. And it doesn't matter what the polls are about. They also vary wildly from board to board depending upon the topic.

based on what I have eheard so far, I said no. It won't take much more to put him in the yes category.

I voted no because I am not sure that OSU will pull the plug. As the poll itself asks "will he be fired" not if "we think he should be fired" that little difference is why the poll is sitting at 50/50.

I voted no, but seeing him on leave makes me thing that OSU is worried that other skeletons will exit the closet. It's very rare that the media has the entire story and rarer still to keep secrets when people smell blood in the water. Putting him on leave is almost the same thing as OSU inviting people to speak.

I try to place myself in the shoes of the board of trustees. What is the minimum the president and AD could do in this case and I feel like something close to justice has been done.

The only thing short of termination that I think I could live with would be a suspension without pay that covered the season, the signing periods, and spring camp. A suspension of not less than 9 months but probably 12 with a requirement of 750 to 1000 hours of volunteer work for domestic abuse charity, no outside employment as a commentator or consultant or doing camps, barred from campus and all contact with staff during the suspension.

When you are at that point, why not just rip the bandage off and start over?

I'm not a fan of Urban Meyer, but l'm not sure what he could have done. First, he may not have known about it. Also, from what I read, police have intervened several times, and apparantly law enforcement was not able to protect Courtney Smith. I'm not sure if this is covered under Title IX, unless Ms. Smith was a student or employee of Ohio State. If she was, then Meyer's wife, since she is an employee of OSU, had an obligation to report the incident, not to her husband, but to the Title IX Office.

So I voted no. But since this is not ten years ago, perhaps Meyer is on his way out.
