NIU may not ever sell out another home game again, sadly.

If NIU didn't sell out Saturday night vs Utah for a home opener after beating Iowa, not on Labor Day weekend, with optimal start time, then I agree, NIU would never sell out again. Would love NIU to give us the chance to see if its possible by beating Iowa! I do think no matter what happens at Iowa, Utah game will be very well attended. I don't think it will translate to any good attendance rest of season however.

Sadly, even if we beat Iowa, I would be surprised if it sold out. Not enough traction coming into this season to sell out the 2nd game. If we were real good last year and were supposed to be even better this year, then maybe.

I think it will be really well attended though and I'm treating it like homecoming with how many people I've been asking to come.

Even if its over 18,000 that would be major step up in attendance, and I think the Utah game has about every positive going into it you can for attendance.

To true College Football fans Utah is an exciting game. But almost all students and anybody else for that matter that hear Utah think that's a random school to play and don't really understand the significance. The only way you can get everybody excited about a game at HS is bringing in a name everybody knows like a PIG10 or SEC School.

I agree that half thefans, namely students, wont be as driven for Utah as say Minnesota or Indiana, but that is more than made up for with it being a Saturday night on a non holiday weekend. Everyone will be on campus that weekend and this will be the thing to do. There are only a few games people can attend this year and this is one of them. It will be a big crowd

I am fired up for all the OCC games, but agree with MaddDog my dream scenario is to come out of Iowa City with a victory and have a crazed crowd lined up for the Utah home game. We are a two game win streak away from changing the entire feel of the program. I will be attending all of the first 4 games- I will say currently I am most excited about the Iowa game, but the excitement will build with each win, and be drained some with each loss. If someone by the FSU game we are undefeated I will be out of my mind fired up in Tallahassee.

I agree that is is unfortunate, but I have a hard time visualizing a completely sold out Huskie Stadium. I can easily see just over 20,000+ though.

I completely agree. While we may see spikes in attendance, I doubt we ever see a sellout again. As we have discussed before, there are more things today vying for people's attention and entertainment, and attending college football is just one of them. It would take a perfect storm of a great date, time, weather, and opponent. That said, if we beat Iowa, there should be a decent crowd at HS as long as the weather cooperates.

Wouldn't that be just the biggest kick in the teeth if the weather was really bad. We finally get a good P5 opponent to come to Dekalb and heavy rain hits. I know the die hards would brave it, but this game is about getting that casual fan into the stadium.

It's time to bow down and pray before our local weather god, MD. MD, I supplicate myself before you in an act of contrition and pray that you spare us from rain.......unless, of course, you plan on placing a storm cloud directly over Rod.

Speaking of weather, let's hope for hot and humid the Utah game. I just got back to DC after a 2 week business trip to Colorado. Even though the elevation was high, the cooler/drier air was far more tolerable than heat/humidity. I felt much better working out in Colorado than 90+ degrees and high humidity on the East Coast. Utah won't be able to adjust quickly if DeKalb is hot/humid the night of the game.

Let's hope for good weather. I'll be bringing 4. The weather for BC was perfect last year. The ending wasn't , however.
