What?! Knowledgeable fans that weren't duped by the pubic display. Thanks for the compliment.

I support the Tiger program. Football is my passion, so I find it easiest to support, but I have been to Tiger sports from tennis to volleyball to soccer. Cal didn't care about Tiger Nation, he cared about cal. Anyone that thinks he was great for anything other than Tiger basketball is just stupid. Everything else got scraps because he demanded it that way.
Let me prove my point. Shooters loves to point out the drastic losses in basketball revenue over the last few years. However, overall the athletic program has seen advancements on a scale Memphis has never seen prior. Imagine what would've happened had cal cared about the Tiger community and not horded it all on basketball.
Wait... you will be able to see in the next few years as all the Tiger sports get the advancements they need.
Even Dr Rudd said that some of the bigger donors lately were brought into the fold by the success of the football team.

Duh, where do think the money was coming from in Cal’s tenure through 2014? It sure as hell wasnt coming from FB. So tell me (even though it’s in University’s financials) why were we spending money in FB then and not in B.B. now; per our AD our finances are in “dire straits”. Explain that.

If you don't see why this post shows your absolute ignorance, I will never be able to discuss actual facts with you.

I AGREED that during cal's tenure basketball was floating the athletic department. HOWEVER, when that money dried up, our athletic budget was still doing well. Your complete ignorance of the facts is actually appalling. And I won't try and spell it out for you anymore. It's simply a waste of time and anyone with two working brain cells have understood that times have changed.
The new success of all sports are adding to a thriving Tiger sports program that is healthy, but being in a G5 (hopefully soon to be P6) conference is a fine balancing act that demands even more money than we currently have.
Just stick your head in the sand and decry how things actually aren't and continue to look foolish to anyone that is actually supporting Tiger sports and sees how incredible the changes have been under Bowen now that all of our money isn't going to strictly basketball improvements.
Talk to people that aren't having to drive to Millington to watch baseball games. In a year, talk to people that aren't driving to Mike Rose to watch soccer. Tour the best basketball facilities in the nation. Then stop by one of the better weight rooms in G5. After another win in the LB, see if they will let you tour the incredible new locker room or just look at the new press box. How about watching a replay on a jumbotron that you don't have to use binoculars to see.
NONE of those were paid by an overflow of basketball revenue.

WHY DID YOUR BUDDY BOWEN STATE ATHLETICS FINANCES ARE “IN DIRE STRAITS?”

Because they are. RC wrecked us.

RE: Tom Bowen guest hosting GP's show friday
Your enemy said that because where we want to go and what is holding us back.

We don't have the endowment necessary to complete multiple projects at once. We don't get the yearly revenue needed to compete with the other P5 programs (hopefully the tv deal will narrow the gap).
Because where we want to go to be competitive with other P6 programs will take a lot more money than what we currently have and are capable of bringing in at any given time.

Think about this example. A few years ago, we had a two year fund raising project to do a 3 million overhaul to our weight room (that had been needed for more than two decades), but at the same time ole miss spends 5 million on their new jumbotron. That wasn't even 1/4th of their tv revenue alone, not to mention all their other revenue. The gap between us and P5 programs is huge!! THAT is why our athletic department is in dire straights.

Having to spell everything out for you is so tedious. Most people that are actually involved with Tiger sports, as you claim to be, pretty easily grasp these concepts. They've actually listened to Dr Rudd, Norvell and Bowen speak to gatherings of fans and boosters. They know about the fundraising projects. You seem clueless about every bit of it.

Edit: It's also very telling that you don't actually object to any of the fact that I posted, you have to attempt to make a deflective post with an attempted insult at the same time. You failed on both counts!!

Several national journalists including Mike DeCourcy slammed that decision by NCAA as totally unfair. If you hate Cal say so but don't use strict liability which had never been used before or since our penalty.

Nole clearly provides the answer in the 3rd paragraph. Maybe you should read rather than skim his responses.

When we were sold out in lowel level club and some prime upper level that require donations, that $3M weight room would be 15% of our Gross basketball revenue. We were taking in 2/3 of what a P5 school was getting then in BB alone. Just trying to make my point about the potential of our BB program and why it's so important and so hard to win back former per seat donors. Do you think i lack knowledge about the football's financial problems? They are on financial statements if you can't see it happening in front of you. Phase II funding is not complete for IPF. And i did not skim.

This is hilarious. You defend RC but slam Bowen when he wanted to fire Pastner a year earlier and wasn't the catalyst behind hiring Tubby. You told everyone that Bowen hates you; that is the only reason why you are so critical of him; it is personal.

He didn't skim. I finally have to admit that he is just that big of an idiot! He clearly doesn't understand anything about how our athletic department run, is totally wrong on funding issues (which both Bowen and Rudd have addressed in the last week) and is even wrong about fans, because all the fans he claims are so hard to replace have either been replaced or returned because season ticket sales for basketball is at all-time records.

He is so obtuse that he thinks the decline in basketball revenue has somehow crippled the program, when at the same time he totally ignores that overall program revenues are up!!! Just dumb!

And football will get another boost unless we have monsoons and horrible weather and basketball of course is going to get a huge boost.

He is blaming Bowen for bad weather, Rudd and Laurie being infatuated with Tubby and because Bowen (what a shock) won't give him the time of day.

Mind boggling.

WHY DID YOUR BUDDY BOWEN STATE ATHLETICS FINANCES ARE “IN DIRE STRAITS?”

Nole clearly provides the answer in the 3rd paragraph. Maybe you should read rather than skim his responses.

Just dumb!

I’m not going to address your slanted opinions. To say B.B. revenues are up from 2013-14 is the most asinine thing I’ve ever heard on this forum and shows your ignorance. Total ignorance. If they were up would we be “in dire straits “?

Quote from my posts where I said I hated Bowen

“he claims are so hard to replace have either been replaced or returned because season ticket sales for basketball is at all-time records.”

LINK? Just anything close. You are really out of touch. Do you go to games?

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a post fabricated more than this mess!!

You are pathetic. I never said BASKETBALL revenues were up, I said PROGRAM revenues were!
Go try and buy a lower bowl ticket to basketball this year. It's sold out other than a few seats behind the visitors goal. The Club Level seats are almost 80% sold out.

Once again, you are clueless to the concept that Basketball alone can NOT float this program, much less take it to where we want to go. It will be a great addition to the total funding, but we have surpassed the days that it can float everything. You're just too obtuse to understand that.

I'm done with you either trying to twist points to fit your narrative or outright ignoring what is said because you simply don't want to agree with it or can't understand.

Let’s drop this. But last I heard Penny talks about basketball PROGRAM and Mike talks about football PROGRAM 99% of the time.

Your exact quote on basketball revenues as follows

because all the fans he claims are so hard to replace have either been replaced or returned because season ticket sales for basketball is at all-time records”.

That would mean basketball revenues are at an all time high. Why post something then deny it in next post?

RC got us in trouble with the NCAA. Got a whole season wiped from the record books. WAY ta go, RC...

Several national journalists including Mike DeCourcy slammed that decision by NCAA as totally unfair. If you hate Cal say so but don't use strict liability which had never been used before or since our penalty.

I wasn't talking about Cal. I was talking about RC. RC was the athletic director. Not Cal.

I will go a step further... why did RC and the lawyer accept the ruling by the NCAA even though most everyone knew it was BS?!
Because if they would've fought that charge, the NCAA would've really investigated the program. There was a lot to find. This stupid slap on the wrist was much better than what could've happened.
