Has Little Miss Socialist commented on the huge success of her favorite economic system in Venezuela? It is really working wonders there. This is what the Dems want to turn America into.

I am sure Danny Glover, Sean Penn and their fellow America hating leftists are proud of what Venezuela has turned into.

Quote:According to the International Monetary Fund, by the end of the year, the annual inflation rate in Venezuela will reach 1 million percent.

A number like that is hard to grasp. Simply put, a candy bar that cost $1 today would cost $10,000 at the end of a year. Anyone in that position would understandably rush to spend the money right now, on anything that might possibly hold its value. Everyone else would too. The entire economy becomes a giant game of monetary “hot potato.” Saving or planning becomes a sucker’s game.

Venezuela is not exactly a struggling undeveloped country; it has the world’s largest proven oil reserves. How the heck did this happen?

There are two answers, one technical and one political.

Quote:The technical answer is that hyperinflations occur because the government wants to spend much more money than it is collecting in taxes — so much more that no one is willing to lend it the money to cover the deficit. Instead, the government uses the central bank to finance the deficit. That puts more money in the economy, but since it’s chasing the same number of goods and services, prices rise to soak up all the extra cash. Unless the government manages to close its budget deficit, it must print even more money to buy the same amount of stuff . . .

Rinse and repeat a few times, and the inflation rate starts running into many zeros. The end generally arrives in one of two unpleasant ways: The government decides to stop the madness and implement a
strenuous reform program, or the currency becomes so utterly devalued that churning out more of it is pointless. By the end of its hyperinflation, Zimbabwe was printing bank notes that ran into the trillions

It's just sad, man. Not long ago, there were lots of refugees from Venezuela popping on the North in here. Past the frontier, some women would even become prostitutes in order to make some cash. There was an engineer washing bathrooms at supermarkets.

Brazil is already full of socialism, but to attract nuestros hermanos, you can only imagine the disaster they are living there.

We've got a family place in Aruba. On a clear day from Hooiberg you can see Venezuela.

The last time we were there, my family, there was an entire extended family of probably 20 (?) people there just a click down the sidewalk. My Son and I were out one evening and ran into what I'd guess was the matriarch/man of the house and we had a brief chat. We discussed the pescado son and I had caught ealier that day and cerveza's with this guy.

Told them we had plenty of both (We had just dragged in a decent 'Cuda and a near monster, as in garbage can lid size steaks) Wahoo! and had given 90% to the Capt and his daughter/ mate as there was no way we could do any thing else with the rest of it, only 4 of us and my Mother.

So, they trotted out the a younger cousin or something (wasn't checking ID's) who was fluent, told him whats up, come on over.

Next thing I know they are bringing over rice, black beans, fresh limes, cilantro, chopped tomatoes and tomatillo's, roasted peppers, coconut, coconut milk for stuff, a ready travel-train of goods to just jump on in.

That and a radio (whatever it was) with their music on it. Salsa stuff I'd guess?!?

Instant Venezuelan "Luau". Probably one of the most entertaining, and rewarding actually, nights of my life as it was all 100% spontaneous and just a hell of a lot of fun.

That's what sucks the (near) most (after the real time, life altering crap), that's followed.

These are and can be beautiful people. They really are. I know many of you travel to DR, likely Cancun, Rico, Costa (Babee), Barbados or St Croix (former roommate from there), or where ever.

This is just what can be utterly destroyed for these people in the span of only a handful of years. Beautiful Country, beautiful people.

Now? An utter schithole.

Some one enlighten me how or why... 07-coffee3

It is impossible to understand how a wealthy first world actor can fly down to a chit hole and praise, in essence, a dictatorship that ruins the country. Are they that strupid or just ignorant?

When you manipulate an economy so that every job gets a livable wage, no matter how unskilled or entry level it is, and no matter how hard the person actually has to work or actually "do something", this is what you get; $10,000 candy bars and no butt-wipe to be found on the shelves. How many hours do you have to work at $15 per hour to buy a $10,000 candy bar?

What I don't understand is are these actors so stupid to not realize that their livelihoods will suffer and they won't be living in humongous houses if we resorted to a socialist government. They'd be lucky to be acting, directing and producing propaganda films for the government. Why isn't Canada a mecca for the film industry? I know it's not an entirely socialist country but it's the closest we have to us and we have all their so called comedians here making a living in the country that they hate so much. EGAD, I hat...don't like these people very much.

I could pass on the 10k candy bar.

But the no butt wipe?!?

C'mon, What is this, San Fransicko?

Next you'll be telling me people are living not on the streets, but living
IN the streets. I'm not buying your propaganda.

This is the multi-millionaire Pelosi's hometown and district after all. Person for the people!

Pics, or it didn't happen, late, going back to bury my head. 03-yawn

There is a difference between Communism and a Democratic Socialist. Venezuela is a Communist Country. Finland is a Democratic Socialist county. Know your difference. Finland does not butcher their people like Venezuela.

I once had a boss who would say, "half of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at".

Venezuela is not communist. In fact, being communist would probably be an improvement for the average Venezuelan.

Venezuela is run by a criminal organization, a narco-regime that allows and facilitates the flow of cocaine through its borders and airspace on to the US, Europe, and other destinations.

The regime leaders are supported, propped up in so many words, by the armed forces which are allowed to control the flow of food, medicines, gasoline, and other important products which are sold at huge markups to the Venezuelan population or smuggled across the border and sold there (gasoline in particular).

Huge areas of Caracas, the capitol, have been turned over to the control of government-armed criminal gangs. These areas are "no-go zones" for the police and military and therefore serve as the base and safe haven for all sorts of criminal activities mostly carried out against the few wealthy who still exist in the country.

So before you preach to others, you know the difference.
