Charlie Card-Childers in Thorpe Cup
Today and tomorrow, Charlie Card-Childers is competing as part of the USA team versus a team from Germany in the Decathlon/Heptathlon Thorpe Cup. The event is taking place at the University of Tennessee.

Each country has 7 decathletes and 7 heptathletes, so it's both an individual and team competition. The USA team consists of the top American undergraduate collegians.

The competition is on event 4 (high jump) and Charlie has moved out of last into 13th, as this is one of his two best events.

Charlie finishes Day 1 in 13th overall. The Germans have 7 of the top 10 right now.

Reminiscent of a St. Ives road trip?

He finished in twelfth, and did finished tied for first in that high jump event. Nice for him to get that type of competition, and hopefully he'll continue to improve.
