This is all dependent on what they find. And take it very easy for up to 8 weeks. I am not as young as when they operated before and healing will take longer. I am trying house all set so things wouldn't be in my way. Getting laundry done so i have at least 2 weeks of clean clothes. Stocking up on easy to prepare food to keep cooking and cleaning up to a minimum. Set up my computer and tv so that i will be able watch emu sports. It's going to be tough not being there. Emu steve and emu 79 keep my place at football warm for me. ?? 16 years I've been in that spot. 6 weeks and counting.

Will be at game tomorrow will see what we can do

Thanks, I have had an excellent recovery. I'm 5 weeks post op and way ahead of the curve on recovery.

I'm going to the Washington Nationals game later this afternoon. I will need to walk at least a 1/4 or 3/8 mile to go from the subway to my seats.

I won't be the fastest to make the trek, but I will make it without problems.

(P.S. this could be Bryce Harper's last home game as a Nat. Should be high drama.)

I will be out of the hospital but i don't know how i will feel. I also will be missing the volleyball games that weekend. The prognosis is fair for this operation 60% better, 35 stay the same, 5% worse, -1% dead. Got to have some humor in this. My condition has been getting worse daily can hardly walk more than a couple hundred yards.

Best wishes, Carl.

Will the docs be fusing discs or something else.

I do know people who have very bad/severe back conditions. Very challenging condition to live because of the way it can impinge on the nerves going down the legs.

Curious if you get nerve block shots? I have a friend who was getting numbness in his legs/feet because of the nerve impingement. Just had a nerve block shot. He also does acupuncture.
They've done a catscan, an MRI and a mylogram.
They don't know until they open me up. A fusion will be the next step.

Interesting. I assume a diagnosis of fusion could be made after the MRI. If you need fusion I assume you'd know and it would be scheduled and you would need a lot of help for weeks.

Fusion is a very complicated surgery and the recovery not easy. This isn't a knee replacement, hernia, etc. (common surgeries for men) where one is discharged 24 - 48 hours later. Make sure you have a subscription to ESPN+ to watch the games.

Are you going to the Ann Arbor VAMC or some other hospital?
I was in a body cast for 4 months for my fusion. Thanks for all the well wishes I'll need them.

RE: Surgery
I am thinking of starting a Go fund me for Carl although not sure how to do it. As many of you know Carl is a veteran and is a bit unsure about the surgery how long he will out and whether he will be able to work again or when he can work. If one of you can help with setting this up I would appreciate it. This fund raising would be for living expenses while he recovers and any thing not covered ie deductibles.

Yes I do plan to contribute.
