03-lmfao Touché

For anyone not following, Vad and Marcus did not want to play in a triple option, and fled GT to play at JMU in a more creative and interesting offense. I think their decisions certainty helped JMU and were the right decisions for Vad and Marcus.

FWIW...Trying to incorporate the triple option for a limited number of plays (someone mentioned 4-6 as a number) is fool hardy at best, and a potential diasaster at worse. It takes an incredibly well-timed relationship between a QB who can read the option and make the necessary decision in the split-second moment to pitch the ball to a FB or TB that must be in the right spot at the right moment, and running at full speed. Practicing the triple option (even as some “wrinkle”) would be wasted practice time.

A better use of practice time would be to implement a goalline package with the QB under center, and/or some variation of an unbalanced line.

I think we ran a three-back set a few times throughout the year last year.

That was the diamond though, right?

I agree with others that we will see RBs line up in the slot. I think that gives us some versatility to run the jet sweep/inside zone looks that FAU ran last year.

The jet sweep was very successful last season for JMU when teams packed the box.

RE: Triple Option
There are lots of plays we could incorporate that would have all three in the game at the same time. It wouldn't have to be a pure triple option to be successful. A wing T variation or slot back. I would hate to have to game plan to stop those three in the backfield. Heck, as much as I hate it, even the Wildcat would offer some unique opportunities.

I hate the Wildcat too unless you have a RB that can throw. Defenses sell out to stop the run as soon as they see the personnel package. Release a TE for an easy catch and run all day.

I feel like Taylor Woods threw a TD last year but could be dreaming.

Not dreaming. The Taylor Woods TD was in 2016 against Elon. That was one of the games after Bryan got hurt at Villanova, and Cole Johnson started.
