Each team's rank for the five years between 2007 and 2011 is in parentheses.

Rank..Rating..School

..1......99.6...Alabama (1)
..2......94.1...Ohio State (9)
..3......93.9...Clemson (29)
..4......89.7...Oklahoma (3)

.13.....84.4...TCU (7)
.14.....83.9...Oklahoma State (12)
.15.....83.4...Michigan State (32)
.16.....83.3...Oregon (4)

This confirms my belief that the SEC is all about Alabama, which has been the #1 team for essentially a decade.

Obviously, Clemson has made a huge climb in recent years.

Even if you remove Alabama, SEC schools have still won 6 of the last 20 national titles.

You guys seem defensive, but everything you post just supports my claim! It's Alabama 5, rest of SEC 6? BTW, in that time span the ACC would have 4... so the ACC is like the rest of the SEC except for Bama. They are the one program that makes the SEC special.

uh, you would have to remove the top team from the ACC as well- FSU with 3.

You can't just remove Alabama. They are in the SEC and are going to remain in the SEC. SEC has 7 top 25 programs to only 3 for the ACC.

Granted. My point was that ONE team has almost HALF of the titles.
Move Bama from the SEC to the ACC and all of a sudden you're asking why the ACC is so dominant in football...

SEC has 12 of the top 37 teams.
ACC has 6 of the top 37 teams.

It's not just Alabama.

RE: Five year Sagarin FBS ratings
The problem with all this is that schools have been overrated and the best G5 programs have been underrated. Under the playoff committee polls, G5 schools have been rated behind the other schools. Under the BCS polls? Schools like Boise State would be inside the top 10. UCF last year under the old BCS polls would have been a top 5 program. But under the playoffs new polls, they are lower down in the polls. I go by watching the teams play on the field, and judge them accordingly. UCF in my opinion is better than Alabama. Boise State iis a top 25 program. Losing to Fresno State is not new to them. Fresno State and Boise State are rivals from the old WAC days. If the MWC adds 2 eastern schools? That would push both Boise State and Utah State to the west which reunites all of the WAC schools who are competitive with each other. Only San Diego State and UNLV are the only exception to the rule. Having Fresno State, Hawaii, UNR and Boise State on one side would help improve the strength over there. The east side have been better when had all 6 from that side went to bowl games.

Now, if Boise State were under the old BCS rankings the past 5 to 6 years? They would have been higher than what they are now.

OK, I can play that game too... The ACC has 2 of the top 7 teams, but the SEC has only 1... it's Alabama.

Are you actually typing these out by hand or are you using something like Excel? Either way, you can make a table here by using spaces instead of periods and bracketing the text block with [#CODE] [/#CODE] (omit the #). Then you can put the whole table in one post. Like so:

The Big 12 has 5 of the top 23 with 10 teams. The SEC has 5 of the top 23 with 14 teams. As someone said, you can play with your selection of groups.

I think its significant that the top 16 has 4 SEC, 4 Pac 12, 3 Big 12, 3 Big 10 and 2 ACC. Its very split.

RE: Five year Sagarin FBS ratings
I knew without looking that we’d be #26. It seems like we’re number 26 in every ranking ever made. That being true, if they made a ranking of how often schools are ranked #26, we’d still be #26.

These don’t look like they’re in order by rank average. It looks like they are ranked by 2017 numbers. Am I missing something?

The purpose of using such an average is to mitigate the effects of seasons which are an anomaly for that school, whether that's a single "caught lightning in a bottle" year, or "found a turd in the punchbowl" season. Each team's rank for the five years between 2007 and 2011 is in parentheses.

Rank..Rating..School

..1......99.6...Alabama (1)
..2......94.1...Ohio State (9)
..3......93.9...Clemson (29)
..4......89.7...Oklahoma (3)
..5......88.9...Florida State (22)
..6......87.5...Wisconsin (20)
..7......87.1...Stanford (17)
..8......87.0...Auburn (16)
..9......86.9...LSU (2)
.10.....86.8...Georgia (15)
.11.....85.7...Southern Cal (6)
.12.....85.5...Washington (60)
.13.....84.4...TCU (7)
.14.....83.9...Oklahoma State (12)
.15.....83.4...Michigan State (32)
.16.....83.3...Oregon (4)

This confirms my belief that the SEC is all about Alabama, which has been the #1 team for essentially a decade.

Obviously, Clemson has made a huge climb in recent years.

Even if you remove Alabama, SEC schools have still won 6 of the last 20 national titles.

You guys seem defensive, but everything you post just supports my claim! It's Alabama 5, rest of SEC 6? BTW, in that time span the ACC would have 4... so the ACC is like the rest of the SEC except for Bama. They are the one program that makes the SEC special.

Not really defensive. I hate Tennessee and Florida. Auburn too. Just pointing out the length people will go to to discredit the SEC for no reason. So if we take out the best team the conference only has 50% more titles than the second place team? Ok?

The numbers labeled "2017" are the average of the five years ending in 2017. That is 2013-2017.

Are you actually typing these out by hand or are you using something like Excel? Either way, you can make a table here by using spaces instead of periods and bracketing the text block with [#CODE] [/#CODE] (omit the #). Then you can put the whole table in one post. Like so:

Code:
School             2017    2016    2015    2014    2013    2012    2011
Alabama            99.6    99.3    99.1    97.7    98.3    97.5    93.5
Ohio State         94.1    91.8    88.0    87.9    85.4    85.1    85.5
Clemson            93.9    91.9    86.4    82.0    80.9    79.2    78.6
Oklahoma           89.7    88.0    87.8    87.3    87.6    88.8    89.8

Texas A&M          80.2    83.8    85.0    85.6    83.4    79.7    76.3

Plot it out in Word with Courier New font if you like.

Sadly, yes I am typing them out by hand. The numbers are from an Excel spreadsheet. I would love to have an easier and faster way to transfer this data, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. I appreciate the advice. Even sadder, I didn't understand a word of it. I'll try to figure out what you said by trial and error. But with my pathetic lack of computer literacy, I'm not very confident. 04-cheers

The big takeaway is 2 bluebloods getting dethroned in their own state - Texas by TCU and Michigan by Michigan State.
