lets see what kind of leash he has if they go 3-9 this year. They can do that just as easy as the can go 7-5.

T-Mac, I was good at my job(s) for 55 years. Now I just try to be good at sharing my years of acquired wisdom on a forum -- among a few other select hobbies. 04-cheers

Yes sir i am. I know the line of work is completely different and its comparing apples to peaches but yes i can say this confidently "Wilder would be gone long time had he been in my shoes" and i do not know how many of you can say the same but i assume there are folks out there that hae had their fair share of dealing with tough bosses. The AD should run his department as any CEO/Owner does their business and uphold their employees to highest of the standards and expect the results the same way. Before you say Wilder and his staff aren't getting paid top dollar and we don't have facilities yada yada i am aware of that and i see why Wilder is still here with the results he has gotten so far. But to say we have to deal with this and put up with losing seasons because wilder got us to the point where we currently are is asinine and absoiutely ridiculous. IMHO if he doesn't get us to a bowl this season he should be gone and if Woody can't make this decision he should be gone like at any other multi-million dollar company that is reeling under loses.

Any CEO that puts an employees under unreasonable expectations is an idiot. You cannot transition to FBS And expect 10 wins right away.

Okay that is not what i said. You and a couple of other posters take the side of administration/coaches as if you belong to close quarters of these folks and rest of us are trying to light up these folks. That is not what is happening here. Any established brand has a little leniency to falter occasionally and correct their mistakes and be back to their usual self but as some one who is trying to establish their brand we can't have a series of these which will essentially put us at a huge disadvantage esp when trying to go against these guys for recruiting etc. I am not saying Woody should expect 10 wins every season but you and i both know what out last 10 season was all about. Anyways aside from that you can't have continuous losing seasons that will put a huge dent in the upswing and cost us of the momentum we are trying to gain.

The Norfolk Admirals are a pro hockey team in the ECHL. The ECHL does not occupy the same level as the NHL. CUSA may be FBS but it does not in any way equate to the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12 or the other top leagues. I can call myself a genius but me and Einstein are not at the same level.

It's a tight rope walk. Nobody will apply for a job if you fire a coach every 2 years of they don't get you to a bowl immediately. But you also can't let things get complacent.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Well, coaches would still be interested. But, how does firing a coach that leads teams to be one of the most successful startups in history sound? If hes playing on an even playing field (stadium assistant coaches pay) and putting up 6 wins per year, then we can talk about it.

Yes, I believe BW has at least 2-3 years after new stadium and we start to have a few consecutive <.500 seasons before it's a discussion. He's done quite well for the most part considering his handicaps.

This isn’t some coach we signed to a five year contract. Coach Wilder was put in charge of a daunting task, the resurrection of ODU Football. It's one of the greatest chapters in ODU's athletic history. I think the majority of ODU fans want the Coach to leave on his own terms.

He'll end up in the ODU Hall Of Fame and maybe have an athletic facility named after him.

There you have it.

While i agree he needs to be honored and may be inducted into HOF, i am not sure quitting will be on his own terms if he gets us consecutive losing seasons, takes the wind out of program's sails and won't move on by himself. Short answer "Money talks" and what ever money says needs to be done to bring back the momentum and the dollars will be done no matter how beloved he is and what he has done to the program. This isn't a mom and pop shop. While these examples(Bill Curry at GA St, Joey Jones at South Alabama and to some extent confirmed Brad Lambert at Charlotte are the ones who brought their FB programs to life and see where they are now) are not a true apples to apples comparison to what ODU has and will but should account for a dose of reality.

Lambert and Curry didnt produce at all. Jones, i guess, did ok but nothing compared to the success wilder has had. How much “life” did they bring to the program?

Yep that is why i said not an apples to apples comparison. If wilder tanks this program for the next 3 years what do you think is the difference between the guys i have mentioned and Bobby? I understand the FCS level success but you can't carry that flag longer than it already has been.

I find the concept of Wilder "tanking" this program over the next three years to be ludicrous, simply.

Be as it may. Again there is no comparison between these programs and us but no one in the AD at Ga St, USA or UNCC envisioned their gamble to end up like they did and hence they were let go and/or getting ready to be. Winning is what gives Wilder edge over them and if you take that away then you simply are looking at identical situations. What i find ludicrous is that some one claiming BW will name his last day despite the losses(if that's what happens but we don't know that yet). He might be able to get us to a bowl this season and i hope he does because next year will be rebuilding and i do not foresee a winning season. I want to make my self clear that i am not BW hater and i want what is best for ODU and our FB program and don't give two ***** about who gets us to prominence but i want us to be on an upward trajectory and be a top FB program in the nation.

Not that i wouldnt revisit Wilders job status if he “tanked for 3 years,” but the difference would be Wilder has actually had success.
