Jim Jordan announces bid for Speaker
Make it happen!

Ohio GOP Rep. Jim Jordan, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, announced Thursday he plans to mount an anti-establishment run for speaker of the House -- presuming Republicans keep control of the chamber.

RE: Jim Jordan announces bid for Speaker
It would be an upgrade. But to really fix things, the following major changes must happen:

- Members of both chambers must have at least SOME ability to bring legislation to the floor. Even if it is doomed to fail. Right now nothing sees the light of day in either chamber with either party in charge unless it has the total support of leadership. Paul Ryan made this worse.

- We must remove, again in both chambers and for both parties, the requirement to donate to the party to obtain committee assignments. True, it does fund the party tremendously. But where does that money come from? Most politicians don't have tens or hundreds of thousands laying around to donate EVERY CYCLE to the party. And that's what these powerful committee assignments cost. Where do the politicians make up the shortfall? Lobbyists. You can see where bad incentives collude with money to corrupt the entire system now.

ALLEVIATING GRIDLOCK

Dear God, please do not allow gridlock to be alleviated. We have two teams, each with terrible ideas. Don't let either one prevail.
