OT: Wrigley Stadium Bowl Game Appears Dead
"The breakdown in negotiations occurred because Cubs officials wanted a premier spot in the Big Ten bowl lineup — the ability to land the league’s No. 3 or No. 4 team. When Big Ten officials queried schools, the response was that they’d prefer a warm-weather destination....The Cubs had the finances arranged for a bowl game at Wrigley but declined to make a deal for a lower-slotted Big Ten team. The two sides amicably parted ways and said they might revisit down the road."

Only One End Zone to be Used at Wrigley

I wondered how an open-air game in Chicago in the winter would fare. Not well aparently.

I wonder if another new bowl game will try to pop up since the NCAA did approve the addition of 3 bowls right? Maybe another one can scramble to takes its place.

They chose that alignment to maximize the good seating, the Bears played there for decades without having to do that.

The renovation of Wrigley was designed to accommodate a full field using that preferred alignment.

Not a factor at all.

I don’t think that’ll be a problem. From the sounds of it there are a number of places looking to add a bowl.

So does this open the possibilities of a Charleston bowl, and a restructure of bowl agreements?

The Medal of Honor Bowl said previously that they would apply once the application process opens. Seating at Johnson-Hagood may be an issue but they are going to try to make it happen.

Would they put a bowl game in an 11K seat stadium is the question.

They are expanding to about 14k but the question remains.
