But LA Tech has played WKU 5 times since 2104, winning 3 of them.

2014 - LA Tech 59, WKU 10
2015 - WKU 41, LA Tech 38
2016 - LA Tech 55, WKU 52
2016 - WKU 58, LA Tech 44 (CUSA Championship game)
2017 - LA Tech 23, WKU 22

That's a good series.

Truth. And LA Tech has only played ODU once, and has not played Charlotte in the regular season either.

Part of the problem is Marshall and USM cross divisional scheduling every year.

I think the problem was UAB dropping their football program.

Well, that and having 14 teams in a conference.

I'd like to have a combo of UAB, Southern Miss, and LT as our cross division opponents every year.

I normally enjoy tweaking my friends from Ruston. But to be honest, I believe ODU's finest CUSA moment was our homecoming game versus La. Tech. I am not so sure i look forward to the rematch, but that game in Norfolk was magical.

I hope Marshall and So Miss continue this cross divisional series as long as we are in this current version of CUSA. I agree. I would like to have UAB and La Tech as well. If we could get that guaranteed every year then I'd be pretty cool with this version of CUSA.

.....It was also painful. 03-banghead

ODU earned it. ODU had a QB that was exceptionally good that year. Furthermore, that LA Tech team was coming off a miserable 5-7 year in 2013, and they had just won 5 CUSA games in a row coming into the ODU game. So, those 5 consecutive wins combined with ODU's recent move up from FBS meant this road contest had "trap game" written all over it for LA Tech. And it bit us. IMO, ODU might have played its best football game ever that day.

In a sincere and conciliatory tone, I just just want ask why USM and Marshall play each other every year? USM wouldn't draw more fans from hosting Tulane or South Alabama instead?

Tulane and South Alabama aren't in C-USA.

We've been in CUSA since 2013 and have never played Rice in FB. As far as I know, we aren't even scheduled to play them in the future. If Marshall has never played La Tech as previously indicated; seems like these kinds of glitches are just another hurdle for CUSA to address in future cross-division scheduling. Sure can't develop a rivalry with somebody you never play.

There was an agreement when Southern Miss moved to the West Division to allow WKU and FAU to join the East Division that the league would continue to schedule this game as long as both schools agreed.

From the Marshall side, the Southern Miss game is usually called out as a highlighted home game when they play in Huntington, so I think the Marshall side sees marketing value in hosting USM in ticket packages above anyone else in the West/entire CUSA.

If this were to happen, my fear for Marshall would be two MAC OOC games every year. One is fine to keep travel costs down, but two like we had for several years seems like we're trying to move back there.
