I don't claim to know what the number is but good friend of mine, who is a tax professional, said there are going to be plenty of people surprised when filing taxes this coming winter/spring but that won't matter to Congress because the elections will have already happened.

Linky no work. (Sorry I removed the "." from the end of the link)

You know who the surprised are going to be? Virtually all who actually pay taxes. Middle class will be surprised at the savings, and the evil rich are paying more of their fair share.

Using the current tables my withholdings were not going to cover my tax for the year. I know this and can plan and prepare for it.
I am saying there are going to be people that are in for a bit of a surprise if they don't check. They see the "savings" in their check but are not prepared when the bill comes due even if it is a reduced bill.

Just checked. After receiving much more back on each and every check, I am also on par to receive $300 back this year. Looks like about a $2500 per year savings.

This was the point I was trying to make. So many of these MAGA supporters thinks that extra 40 dollars a paycheck is all from the tax. It. They fudged the withholding tables to make you think that. You are going to be in for a big surprise come April 15. The tax cuts are not the boon to you that you think they are.

No. The IRS had to react to the enacted tax cut. I am saying the GOP in a political move designed to get points before the election will screw people after the election. While every adult should know this we know that is not the case since we as a county elected Trump.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/03/01/a-tax-re...-2018.html

Quote:The new tax law made some sweeping changes in terms of personal and dependent exemptions and enhancements to the child tax credit. As you're gearing up for tax season though, keep in mind that the changes as a result of tax reform largely go into effect next year, when you're filing your 2018 tax return in 2019.

"This year, filing is business as usual," says tax attorney and certified financial planner Rebecca Walser. "It's next year that will be really different."

and this

Quote:"The old way to fill out a W-4 was, you would put a '1' for yourself, another '1' if you're married and you would put the number of children that you have that are dependents," Walser tells CNBC Make It. "You would add those all up and claim a withholding exemption for the amount of total exemptions that you have. But because this new law changes the fact that we are not going to get an exemption per person, the W-4 form needs to be updated."

Okay, so you are complaining that people are getting to keep more of their money through the year and MAY have to pay more if they don't adjust their withholdings correctly. Got it. You are complaining about people getting to keep more of their own money.

Unfortunately we lack as a nation the leadership to END our current tax system and move to a consumption tax paradigm. We would not be having this conversation if we did.07-coffee3

Mine went up big time...to the tune of almost $9.00 an hour. Thanks Trump, I've got your back in 2020.

Quote:Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is having a bad week – and it’s about to get worse. On Friday we’re expected to learn from the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis that the U.S. economy grew at a blistering pace in the second quarter of this year, further affirming the success of President Trump’s tax cuts and deregulatory efforts.

President Trump hinted at the good economic news in a tweet Tuesday, writing: “Our Country is doing GREAT. Best financial numbers on the Planet. Great to have USA WINNING AGAIN!”

Economists expect the Bureau of Economic Analysis report Friday will show that the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew between 3.3 percent and 4.6 percent in the second quarter – showing not only a strong economy, but one that is accelerating.

I'd honestly bet about 70/30 on the deregulation vs. the tax cuts.

still significant, but getting rid of all this garbage on manufacturing for the last 25 years.

May God, once again, join in with America, the beautiful.

Your reading comprehension sucks.

I understand just fine. You are bitching because you feel like people aren't responsible enough to understand an monitor their withholding. Seriously, who doesn't check theirs every year anyway? I've never understood dumbasses that brag about getting large refunds. I guess they enjoy giving the govt a free loan while struggling to get by each month.

You found an article that wisely suggests people make sure that the new withholding tables don't surprise them next spring because they weren't smart enough to educate themselves on the tax reform. Since it was CNBC, it's written with a slant suggesting this is all slight of hand meant to deceive people and you of course swallowed it hook line and sinker.

Kinda telling that this is the argument of the left on this forum after I posted the information about wage increases since the tax cuts.
