he was running with the 2's in spring. and yes he started all 13 games last year, but he was the weakest link in the secondary and his potential replacements were freshmen. doesn't surprise me he lost his job.

That’s a bit much. I certainly never thought of him as a weak link last season. The entire defense struggled at times.

He did lose his job starting position in Spring ball. We don’t know if he had already told Huep his intention to leave after graduating in Summer term.

To me it didn’t look like he was adapting to the new defense system. He made some poor reads and missed assignments in the Spring Game. So either his head wasn’t focused on learning the new scheme or he already checked out mentally.

I thought you guys had a terrific defense last season. I thought you guys and a lot of our teams got a bad rep for having sub par defenses last season because the offenses were so great. I'm not sure but it seemed to me that our conference mates put up more points against ourselves than most if not all of our nonconference foes excluding the actual bad teams of ofcourse.

While the defense did pretty well throughout the year, we gave up 42, 55, and 27 points the last three games of the year - and those were easily our most visible games to the nation. Our defense was running on fumes by the end of the regular season. USF and Memphis were our 10th and 11th weekends in a row without a bye. No surprise we got shredded to pieces there. We clamped down much better against Auburn after getting some rest.

Whoever it was that did those big breakdowns of the offensive and defensive statistics of all 2017 made a good comment. UCF's defense was one of the best in the AAC at holding opponents to an unsuccessful play (few or no yards). The problem was that when we got burned, we really got burned and gave up huge plays. Might have been worst in the AAC in giving up big plays.

I think you're being to critical of your defense. Didn't you guys literally play 11 weeks in a row? Getting stressed by 2 of the best offensive teams in the nation at the end of the season coming at you with everything we had is nothing to hang your head down about. Once UCF caught their breath they clamped down on a team that everybody thought was going embarrass you guys. Heck even Memphis only gave up 20/21 points to ISU and was a couple of bad calls away from winning. Oddly enough the bad calls were when the defense had made some great game winning plays.04-cheers04-cheers

I mentioned all of that in the first paragraph. The second is just commenting on unbiased statistics. Overall, I agree the defense didn't get the credit it deserved. 04-cheers

Nebraska’s Scott Frost is in favor of an 8-team @CFBPlayoff. He would start it in December w/5 Power 5 conference champs & 3 at large teams (giving G5 champ & non-Power 5 champs a chance)
--

Seems like Frost has totally forgotten about the AAC/UCF and is now pushing the "P"5 narrative non stop. First he says UCF shouldn't claim to be national champions. Now he doesn't even want the so called "G"5 to have a place in the expanded playoffs. But he sure wants to make sure each and every "power" 5 conferences have a guaranteed slot. The so called G5 team would have to compete for an at large spot under Frost's plan.

What gives? Did he not see how good the AAC was when he was here? Has he totally turned his back on the so called little guy. Has he bought the company line? What happened?

I highly doubt they go to automatic bids anyways. If its just based on winning your conference it doesn't motivate anyone to schedule challenging out of conference games.

How can anyone expect Frost to think the AAC is a challenging league? He flipped a winless team to an undefeated team in his 2nd year. He literally showed how easy it is to win in the conference. I feel like people will point to that and use it against the league.

I’m sad he left, and selfishly a little bitter about it still. That said, I’m extremely grateful for everything he did here and understand why he made the move he did. I hope like hell he lives to regret it, lol... but I understand it.

I do want him to stay the **** out of Florida though when it comes to recruiting. In that regard, he’s now our competition and I hope he fails at recruiting Florida...

#apart epidemic

“(Frost) built something special at UCF, and I was lucky enough to be apart of that,” Neal told HuskerOnline.com.

I was looking at the 247 Husker 2019 recruiting site and I did not see one Florida recruit as a hard commitment. I am sure he will get some but recruiting them to go to Nebraska at this time is still a tough sell.

Unlike the mouthbreathers at Rivals I can't hate a Coach that delivered an Undefeated Season.

But I am exhausted by the sideshow this offseason has created with UCF fans vs just about everybody. It makes me cynical about College Football in general

As I remember it our defense got worse as the season went on. Our offense was what saved us when our defense couldn't stop anyone consistently. The defense did make some great plays in critical situations at key times.
