When NC State basketball players sold shoes the University destroyed the entire athletic program. Times have changed.

UNC can do better than Fedora. Not only does his record suck for a program that should win 8ish games a year, but this guy is a total moron that makes the state's golden child look really backwards.

Can they do better? You are making an assumption that UNC will EVER really compete in football at the highest level. The evidence says no. They have had a few spikes in past century, but have never gotten over the hump. They are like a slightly more successful NC State in football.

In the 40's they had to pay Choo Choo, but could not get over the hump. In the 70's they refused to allow Dooley to be AD and ran him off. In the 80's Crum could not overcome Clemson or MD. In the 90's Brown could never overcome FSU. UVa almost did not rejoin the group in 1954 because they had misgivings about pitting their students against Carolina's "professionals". If you have not done something over the past 90 years, what are the odds now, especially given the fact that from an institutional standpoint Carolina becomes more and more female oriented year after year.


In my mind a competitive football program has to maintain a chip on its shoulder. Something to tap when you would otherwise quit and pack it in but I have never seen that at UNC in part because as they are recruited and as they roam campus, it's drummed into their collective heads that they are better than everyone else, save the ***** at Duke. I say this from first hand experience.


That's why I don't know that UNC can hire someone like Dabo, let alone a future Beemer. I may live long enough to be surprised. I always have to hope - you can't be an NC State and give up hope.

It looks like it will be 13 football players that sold Jumpman gear that was given to them.
Suspensions will be from 1 to 4 games based on an existing NCAA formula.
Suspensions can be staggered by player, but it is unclear if they can be staggered by game (i.e. a player suspended for two games could sit out game two and game 11).
The only athletes involved were football players.
