Media Impact on CUSA
As a member of the Dead Tree society, I still read the Tennessean every day like a whole lot of old folks. And watch the Local Network sportscasts. Even today, we got nothing NADA on MT despite having 4 guys named to Preseason All Conference FB team. So, how about you guyz? Does it suck for all of us and what do we do about the lack of individual and conference promotion?

Marshall gets pretty good coverage in the Charleston/Huntington market but there are only 2 FBS/D1 programs in WV.

ODU is doing okay in this regard. It could always be better. But I'd imagine we are getting more coverage than most G5s.

Here are a few articles from the past week from the different local outlets on ODU.

RE: Media Impact on CUSA
Alabama news has been consolidated onto one website, AL.com. They've been good about covering the stadium progression, but mostly because it involves Birmingham. Recent things they've missed that I've been frustrated by:
Spencer Brown being named to Doak Walker & Maxwell watch lists. No mention of it, but the Auburn QB has 2 separate articles for him landing on watch lists.
They released the Advocare bracket and there was no mention. Alabama's Feast Week bracket was also released and they did an article on it.

I'm really starting to learn how tough it is to find UAB news, especially without a Twitter.

IMHO Charlotte Observer gives the 49ers very little coverage. I also find it disturbing that the Concord NC paper "independent tribune" which is 20 minutes from UNCC covers Appalachian St & Wake Forest but not the 49ers.

There was zero coverage in Birmingham yesterday of UAB being at CUSA media days. All the media people are in Atlanta covering SEC media days...

ODU's beat reporter, Ed Miller, wrote this one on the re-birth of UAB football;

Can't find any coverage for UTSA from the local newspaper (not exactly a slow news day though) but one local TV network was there and Spectrum News sent their sports reporter.

The Denton Record Chronicle does a good job of covering North Texas. They are owned by the Dallas Morning News, so our content is also available on their site. Outside of those regional papers, most of the Texas media focuses on the Cowboys and Texans. When the media does talk college football, Texas and Texas A&M get the coverage.

According to Phil Steele, FAU's odds of making play-offs are 200:1 :)

Obviously in Austin UT gets most of the coverage but Texas State gets a few clips here and there on various channels. I remember spectrum being very good. We even had a weekly show when I was in school but since Spectrum isn't available in my area now idk if they still do that.

When did Tex St join C-USA? Realignment is getting out of hand.

We get a lot of love from the local TV reporters here in Charlotte but the Charlotte Observer not so much. There are really only two things are currently keeping the Observer in business, the Panthers and anti-Trumpers.

Marshall dominates our market. I honestly didn't realize how bad some of you had it. That sucks in terms of lack of info.
