Seattle U's attendance is a little misleading. They played 9 games at KeyArena and 9 games at Connolly Complex (gym). Connolly only seats 999 and was 86.5% full for the nine games there. And, for the nine games at the KeyArena, Seattle only filled it to 11.7% capacity.

Hopefully, now that its D1, CBU arena will exceed last season's totals and help increase WAC attendance. Also, I am hopeful UTRGV will improve its attendance by playing some of its games at the new NBA D-League arena.

I'm worried it will be 800 people in an 8500 seat venue, quiet and lonely as they watch us get tripled by Oklahoma.

Are you guys using the 17K seat Key Arena or just the lower bowl of 10k? I asked b/c the upper deck is curtained off.

I considered taking into account that the upper section of the Key Arena was being closed for Seattle games. But I could not find a definitive seating capacity of the KeyArena with the upper section closed. So yes, I used the KeyArena total capacity. Keep in mind, NMSU closes off upper sections of the PAC as well; but I am sure the total capacity was used edinburger's calculations.

Good follow up. When I looked for a lower level capacity, focusing on the KeyArena info, all I could find is a range given between 5K and 10K depending on set up.

Using the 7,800 number, Seattle filled their arena at 25.7% in the nine games held in the KeyArena.

Looks like it's in the final stages but not absolutely complete. Day before yesterday they were painting the big LED sign thingy out by the highway, and last week they finished putting the RGV Viper logos on the outside. They already had a VIP preview night for politicians and corporate types and they look serious about the August 31st event.

BTW, my theory for why our prez made our mascot the Vaqueros against the wishes of students/locals/everybody is so they can just have "V" logos on the court and scoreboard and it could mean Vipers or Vaqueros.
