Wed and Thur. Football is getting closer and closer. Some pros already started. I'll be looking at exhibitions if for no other reason than to see some of our guys trying to make the cut. Then comes fall practice and viola!! it's game day Sept. 1!!

Can't wait!!

Outside of my excitement for ODU... I can't wait to see what FAU does for the CUSA on opening week. Love or hate them FAU has a good opportunity to throw a blow the first week of the season vs. Oklahoma. I think the excitement for FAU football is probably going to be short-lived with Kiffin jumping ship if he is able to beat the Sooners and repeat as CUSA camps this season.

Not sure if I'm so convinced Lane is ready to jump ship as soon as he starts winning. He is getting paid and has some relatively low expectations compared to what would be expected from a better school. Maybe that's what he wants. I personally hope he stays as long as possible, he is giving the conference exposure and raises the bar for the rest of the teams in the conference

I agree with all you said and hope he sticks around but given Kiffin's resume if he gets a better opportunity he'll be gone. Can you imagine if he sticks with FAU where that program can be in 20 to 30 years if their/his success continues? Kiffin at 43 still has 20 to 30 years of coaching left.

And it all came from ponying up money and making a great hire. ODU could do The same. If Bobby can’t step up, (and I hope he does) maybe we hire the next LK. I’d rather see us in that spot than FAU. Obviously, we all
Would. Point being, we’re all potentially just money, a great hire and two years from awesome.

RE: Media Days
Kiffen was smart and walked into a great position. They were a young and talented team that was ready to make the leap and had an absolute star in Singletary. Obviously Kiffen gets credit, but some people don't realize how good of a position he walked into.

I have no clue what he's going to do. He's such a little weasel. From what I've heard from a college coach, they think he's gone the first opportunity that comes up, but his off the fied habits may make teams hesitant.

I really don't know what he'll do, but he may ride FAU for a while and wait on an ideal spot. However, the first time FAU goes undefeated with a couple of nice scalps and he can't get into a good bowl he might bolt at anything better than a CUSA school.

Well, FAU also had this small little detail called a relatively new 30k seat stadium. And they also had a belief that they didn't have to bow down to U Miami, UF, or FSU in thinking about what's best for them. Over in the 757, we still debate whether we can support a 25k seater with no other competitor nearby and whether it would be worth spending the money to try to compete with the VTs and UVAs of the world for their 2nd and 3rd string local recruits. I cannot even see FAU hesitating to plan a facility that wasn't even at JMUs level when you think about it. FAU football is operating on an entirely different level of belief and ambition. And THAT's why they have Lane Kiffin and the fruits that may follow him IF he decides to move on.

BTW, I'm a big BW supporter and think he could get us there, but I don't think ODU has remotely approached its potential.

But, they only averaged 18k fans in that 30k stadium. Which was in their best season in history (Im sure). The previous year they had several games with attendence under 10k

RE: Media Days
I get it. But Lane Kiffin is there in part because of the facility which demonstrates upside. He'll never grow it to 30k, but at least he can see where he can go. I don't think the sellout streak at an underbuilt facility would attract that kind of coach either.

So we got what we could get. An FCS assistant. Let's hope he has some upside whenever we decide to give him something to grow into.

No. But I'm the offseason pessimist of this group.

Huge ? at QB, the schools picked head all went bowling and, really, how much work did the media do in predicting those standings? I expect us to be better than 6th
