Alliance Memphis Football - College Team Allocations
The new pro football league kicking off next Spring just released each team's college and pro team allocations to fill the majority of the 50 man roster -

Birmingham got Miss. State

Memphis gets Tennessee, Arkansas, Ole Miss, U of Memphis, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, LSU and then a bunch of other smaller TN schools...I'm surprised we got LSU but it can't hurt the talent pool...

We probably have some of the weaker affiliations, but I'm not sure how much that'll matter. I'm actually pretty interested in this

RE: Alliance Memphis Football - College Team Allocations
I’ve always felt that major league sports should have regional affiliations instead of doing drafts. They’d have more interest in their regions and developing players. As well as no more tanking. One risk would be though, the best players going to colleges in the regions where they hope to play pro sports. That could leave certain regions dry both in college and professional sports.

I wonder if this means expansions won't come in groups of 2 or 4, but 8. If not, it would be interesting to see how they split NFL allocations, as it wouldnt be an even 4.

Have you put your deposit down? I put mine down for Birmingham, assuming you can do the same for Memphis.

I've been in Birmingham all week for business and they're talking a lot about this venture. Too bad the new complex won't be ready for a couple more years.

BTW, color me a fan of Five Points.

That's the first college affiliation listing I've seen. Some of those schools are strange relationships. (Birmingham affiliated with Maryland?)

Memphis and Orlando have the fewest college affiliations with 7 each. Whereas Birmingham has 11 schools - including the Auburn and Bama factories. I know it's a South/West league right now, but I'm surprised by the lack of team affiliations with the B1G. Only Illini and Northwestern affiliated with Phoenix. Seems odd.

But I think it's an interesting concept and will give it a shot.

Glad to hear people talking about it. I have a hard time getting sports chatter outside of Auburn & Alabama. As for the stadium, I'm just glad it's actually being built. Glad to hear you like Five Points, I think it's often ignored because of the success in Avondale and Lakeview, but it's got some good eats and entertainment. I also hope you left enough in your stipend to try Highlands.

The best explanation I've seen for this is that some people are theorizing that XFL will take mostly northern cities.

ditto for me as well

most games apparently will be on Saturdays

I predict that IF he still wants to play, Riley will be our starting QB

QB play in this league should be very interesting considering the schedule is gonna be February to April/May. There’s sure to be some chilly and wet games.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Riley suit up for Memphis so long as the rumors of him being done with football are just exaggerations.
