RE: CFN Syracuse forecast
It sounds like the Broncos will have their work cut out for them to stop a very explosive passing game, especially after losing both of their starting cornerbacks to the NFL, but Syracuse as a team seems to have a lot of question marks. Playing them at Waldo may just be the difference in a season opener with both teams having to fill a lot of vacancies from last season.
Hoping for a good game on August 31st and a Bronco victory!

Looks like Syracuse has a terrible defense, if last year is any indication. We should be able to score some points. Cant play it close to the vest.

They had a terrible defense last season and lost their top 4 tacklers from it!!

Explosive air show by the Orange.
How has that translated to a faster pace on O and keeping their D on the field longer (to be exposed)?
Someone have the #'s?

Take the over. Crazy how we have to replace our 3 linebackers, both corners, and our best d lineman. woah!

Syracuse two best receivers over the past two years aren't there anymore; Amba Etta-Tawo and Steve Ishmael both graduated. Not yet sure if another receiver has stepped up. Also, the running game has been a bit weak over the past several seasons.
We have some pretty good DEs that will give their OTs trouble. The 3-tech and NT should be able to hold their own in the middle as long as the pace of the game doesn't gas them out.
Syracuse's DC has a penchant for the Tampa 2. Hasn't really worked terribly well for them, overall, the past couple of years. And, they've got a lack of experience at the LB position now.
The DL? Chris Slayton is GOOD. Doesn't get much visibility, but he's going to be trouble. Bear, too, is really good. Think he's a RS soph this year. There are few other underclassmen DL that are pretty good, too. If we can keep them on their heels more often than naught, we should have a decent chance.

I think the loss of Tranquil early in the MSU game last season really had an impact. I look forward to him being back at safety... it’s not like we are rushing freshman into coverage... I worry more about our ability to put pressure on Dungy.

RE: CFN Syracuse forecast
I will say that I don't think our defensive scheme matches up well at all against Babers' dink and dunk offense. Our defense is for beating Toledo and NIU.
That said, we have the perfect offense to counter it: let Bogan/Bellamy/Tucker play football for 40+ minutes...

Losing Steven is going to have a huge impact on the DL... who do you see filling that hole? Any edge rushers going to step up to put pressure on the QB without the monster in the middle?

Filling the hole left by Steven? I don't know right now. Maybe McCabe? From what I understand, he certainly has a shot at it. Assoua and Fayad should be able to step up.

That really says something if a true freshman might be our best interior D lineman. Yikes!!
What about Holley? Is Aguirre healthy yet?

Where is that “bowl experience” depth?
Do you mean that beside QB there was little left on that cupboard too?

McCabe has good bloodlines.
Dad played at ND, bro is DE at Yale and grandfathers played buckets for the Blue Demons and the Pokes.

RE: CFN Syracuse forecast
Cuse is very solid at QB. Dungey has a chance for a special season. The OL is very good. RBs and WRs are below average however the TE is topflight. I'm sure Coach Lester has called Scott Shafer at MTSU and got pointers on how to frustrate the Babers offense. Can WMU slow down SU? If you can hold us to under 28 you have a great chance to win. Our DL is better than most experts think. Chris Slayton (just Squatted 670lbs x 3), Alton Robinson and McKinley Williams have excellent chances of being drafted.
Our LBers and DBs are the weakest links right now.

RE: CFN Syracuse forecast
My concern for our first couple games is our 20-ish returning-from-injury players shaking off the rust and cobwebs. A lot of them haven't seen any action, not even a spring game, since October.
