Breitbart polls on Texas political races
https://www.breitbart.com/texas/2018/07/...opponents/

Ted Cruz has a somewhat comfortable 9-point lead over Beto O'Rourke (51-42).
Greg Abbott has a 10-point edge over Lupe Valdez in the Governor's race (51-41).

But two other major races are surprisingly close in a poll that certainly can't be claimed as having any liberal bias.

Dan Patrick leads Mike Collier by just 2 percentage points (46-44) in the Lieutenant Governor race. And in the Attorney General race, Ken Paxton is up by 4 points (45-41) over Democratic challenger Justin Nelson.

The poll was released 4 days ago but I don't believe anyone has linked to it yet here? I think Patrick can be defeated. He's a buffoon. The other three races will probably go to the Republicans.

Ha! We are still about 5 months from the elections. Those polls are probably about as close as they will be. As we get closer to election day, I expect those numbers will change and we will begin to see a little more separation between the candidates. I think even Patrick will win, although closer then the other races.

You would be amazed how many Hispanics in Texas are conservative and want the boarder to be secured.

I'm more worried about the people from liberal states that are flocking here for jobs. It takes time to assimilate those folks, and the population in Texas is growing fast. Going forward, how the SC rules on redistricting will be very important to the future of Texas staying conservative.

Florida below the pan handle is a northern state already.

I’d like to see all four incumbents taken down. That said, so long as Patrick loses, that’d be a great day. Get him out of Texas and over to Liberty University where he belongs.

It's not just liberal states or Hispanics moving into Texas. The number of immigrants from other countries coming here are massive. The two countries in particular I see a ton of new people from are Nigeria and India. Houston is a hotspot for jobs in the medical industry and those two cultures seem to specialize in producing doctors/nurses/medical professionals.

A Democrat winning statewide would, indeed, be a “Holy Moses” type of event.

Just for the record...

Last Democrat to win Texas running for President: Jimmy Carter 1976.
Last Democrat to win Texas running for US Senate: Lloyd Bentsen 1988.
Last Democrat to win Texas running for Governor: Ann Richards 1990.
Last Democrat to win Texas running for any statewide office: Bob Bullock 1994.

Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott will both win by 12+ points, easy.

I admit I don’t have a clear sense of the down-ballot races. Would be surprised if a Dem actually won the state but who knows.

Dunno about India, but from Nigeria these are the doctors I envision.

I know your using the spelling of border as boarder is a play on words because that's exactly what we do with these illegal aliens but could you please use the right spelling. Even Trump uses the wrong spelling and I hate it. It's BORDER!

Whew, thanks for putting up with my rant.

Yeah, but you have to remember that that was before the Demoncraptic Party went full bore Communist. You give me a normal thinking, middle of the road Demon and I might even vote for him/her.

So as for one of the candidates, when do you think Cruz will drop the item that Beto's mom had scrap with the feds over money laundering issues?

Small matter of overlooking 630k in cash payments at the home furnishings store.... just a small 'clerical error' to spread 630k over 65 receipts.....

In defense of Beto I can't accuse him of any wrongdoing as it wasn't him who is the crook...and I don't even like him. It's just a fact that if a close relation is a crook not the whole family has to suffer.

What's the name of the furniture store, do you know? I might have bought from her. This is the first time I've heard of this.

Never mind, I found out through my wife that it's Charlottes Furniture, a high end furniture store here in El Paso. We have some of their furniture, they're not cheap but it's good quality.
