RE: Toledo at Illness in 2023 Announced
Illinois should be scheduling us on a cyclical basis, such p*ssies.

And no, I don't want to hear any of your "What would they have to gain from playing NIU?" crap.

How about not looking like frightened *sshats to in-state college football fans. There's only 2 FBS teams in our state outside of Urbana, why purposely avoid one of them??? Buck up and play the other in-state FBS squad every few years, guessing it could only help local interest in the sport, win or lose.

Plus we bring more bodies than most/all other G5 opponents to both Evanston and Urbana.

I know this sounds like a joke and I totally dont mean it as a joke. I honestly temporarily forgot Illinois had a football program.

You forget that Illinois has a football team but yet you remember NIU having a mens basketball team very well? 01-wingedeagle

This is hard. Do you cheer for the Illness to beat Turdledo, of vice versa?

Perhaps because NIU basketball is mired in mediocrity and Illini football strives for mediocrity?

If the Rockets beat the Illness, then NIU would have an opportunity to beat Toledo.

No disrespect intended, genuinely want to know, why root for the ILL-ness? Do we have to cheer for Northwestern, Illinois State, etc., whenever they play a MAC team or for that matter any opponent simply because we all reside in the same state?
To me, rooting for someone from your conference over other opponents makes more sense because their success elevates the group you are a part of. NIU's reputation never increases because Northwestern, ISU, etc. defeats an opponent.

The best answer to these type of games is put it out of your mind and forget the game is occurring until you see the final score crawl, that way you don't have to cheapen yourself either way taking a side

A win for Toledo is a win for the MAC over the Big Ten.

A win for the Illness makes them undefeated vs a team that gives the Huskies trouble, especially over the last two years. You will be hearing about it from every U of I football fan that you know.

Do not give U of I the Toledo measuring stick. (Or the Iowa measuring stick either).

I don’t have the chip on my shoulder that most people here have against the Illini. I love to root for my in-state schools.

U of I > Toledo for me.
