Stukenborg Inducted Into Tennessee Sports Writers Hall Of Fame
We've been fortunate in this small media market to have some really talented writers. Stukenborg and Calkins have been around for a number of years. Calkins has won national awards. Wolken and Parrish both moved from local market to national gigs.

Let's hope the next generation carry on the tradition.

That tradition is probably over with for a while. Mark G left national to come here. Jonah is probably 3 years away from being 3 years away. John Martin could potentially latch on at an SI or somewhere. Vernon already does some stuff for Bill Simmons and the Ringer.

Was he really national? I thought he covered HS, college and the Caps for the Post?

The only way John Martin gets anywhere is by 'latching on' to someone's coattails and not letting go.

As for Stuke, well deserved.

I thought he did more than that but maybe not. Maybe he could have a shot then.

Only reason I say that is because I think someone said he was doing a write up for SI or Athlon on Penny.

Tom Schad moved on to a national gig as well.

Rumors are going around that Giannotto may become the new lead columnist for the CA.

Yep. Getting a nice raise, too, to be the new Calkins.

I think you are going to be very suprised in 10 years. The kid still has maturity issues and gets silly, but he has talent. He can make it through his 3 hour show with about 1/10th of the uhms and uhhs that we get from GP and already a better interviewer.
