RE: 2013 Louisville players sue NCAA to get title back

Yeah. The win/loss is pretty stupid unless its something like a clearly ineligible player (I'm reminded of Texas Southern having a band with substantial numbers of non-students). But taking titles it a good penalty.

With Papa John's racism the cherry on top...
And let's not even mention the fact that the university itself is falling apart.
The board is suing its former President.
The governor dismissed its entire board two years ago, and lawsuits went back and forth for over who actually controlled the school.
The school nearly lost its accreditation in December 2017.
No wonder nearly its entire interim leadership team left for other universities.
You get your info from TMZ right?
TMZ has a pretty good accuracy rate.
I don't know about TMZ, but the Chronicle of Higher Education has a pretty good accuracy rate. Some articles since 2016:

So just for example, if you were playing poker with someone for pretty big stakes and they beat you, then you found out the next day that they had cheated, if the tournament organizer contacted you about returning your money you lost, you would say thanks but no thanks and be OK with the cheater keeping the money because, well, you can't pretend his win didn't happen, right?
Personally, I think "vacating" titles is a great idea. It takes back the "ill-gotten gains", it hits the program where it really hurts, its legacy. Those who say "vacating is silly, means nothing, taking away scholarships is much tougher punishment" are wrong. The whole reason you pass out scholarships is in hope of winning. That's what vacating directly hits.
E.g., UofL took pride in having 3 national titles. Now it's back to 2. That hurts, and that's why the players are suing - because it hurts.
Bingo!
Hear, here!
They don't take away players' rings or t-shirts. They aim to take away the pride of winning - pride that was false to begin with.
