CMU survived in OT 88-80. Presley Hudson hit the gaming tying shot at the buzzer. It was a 3 pointer and EMU could have easily fouled her with about 2 seconds left but choose not to. Oh well. Hudson scores 28 for the game.

Buffalo 41-21 at the half. Our offense has been bad , our defense has been bad, Starkey didn’t play Dingle for about 8 minutes for some reason. Barber Smith has only one rebound, Thall has not hit a shot except for a couple of layups, Golden’s shoulder got hurt although she is trying to stay out there. Other than that things are going well.

The two fouls had something to do with it, I think.

Three and a half left and it’s Buffalo 75-46. The second team is in now so it’s over. We made one mild attempt to come back and then missed 4 consecutive layup (3 were just basic layups). Buffalo scored after every miss. This was the BG road game all over again only Buffalo is a good team that really made us pay. Let’s hope the new recruits are as advertised and next year we improve even more. Still might get #20 in a
tournament. It’s now 85 -52 as the game ends.

This was not the BG road game all over. This was "Hero" ball from the opening tip. Carter and dingle driving and shooting at will. No ball movement at all. The ball hit their hands and it stopped. If we had 8 assists I will be shocked. You cant play that way and expect to win against a team as good as Buffalo. No extra passes.

I’m talking about the BG game we lost and shot miserably. I believe hero ball had a role to play in that one.

How would two fouls put us down 20. Or are you talking about Golden’s shoulder? It definitely moved in a direction it wasn’t suppose to.

Eight assists against BG with Carter/Dingle getting 3. Nine today with Carter/Dingle getting 2. Starkey has to fix this over the summer as it happens way too often. He tells her to play downhill every chance she gets and she sure does. It reminds of Ty Lue telling Kyrie to play fast. He did and when the Cavs played poorly the ball was stuck in Irving and LeBrons hands. It’s the same thing with this team. Ironically when Dingle slows up and moves the ball she usually benefits the most in the scoring column.

Ok agree. And she does benefit from the ball moving side-top-side. The defense moves and she has a wide open lane.....I do trust starkey to fix it. He ran different sets at the beginning of second half....

RE: Women’s Basketball 2018-19
When Kent State beat Buffalo Saturday, it played one of its best games and Buffalo played one of its worst.

Wednesday was Buffalo at its best, and Bulls can be very good. Remember they made the Sweet 16 last season and have an RPI of 37 this year. They've got a shot at an at-large bid again.

Bulls scored 32 more points than Saturday and shot 50 percent (26 percent on Saturday).

KSU's offense struggled largely because Buffalo's defense wouldn't let them do anything. When that happens, Carter and Dingle do try to make things happen. But Dingle took only seven shots (she made one and had six turnovers). Poole and Golden didn't score a point. Thall, who led the MAC in 3-point percentage, missed six from distance and nine overall.

Starkey said Golden has had trouble lifting her arm for a couple of weeks and reinjured her shoulder in the first quarter She still had five steals, five rebounds and three assists.

KSU has a good shot at a WNIT bid; they got one two years ago with an RPI in the 90s. Current RPI is 84.

Story is on the blog at http://wbbflashes.com.

I'll add more later, but they're about to throw me out of the Q press room.

You said Starkey sat Dingle for eight minutes for some reason. And I’m telling you it probably was because she just picked up her second foul.

RE: Women’s Basketball 2018-19
Buffalo beat No. 1 seed Central Michigan 82-77, Bulls will face Ohio, which routed Miami 74-48, at 11 Saturday for MAC Tournament championship.

This really couldn't be better for MAC as whole. Central (25-7 with 29 RPI) already was almost a lock for NCAA Tournament. Ohio is 27-4 with 33 RPI; Buffalo is 22-9 with 33 RPI.

It's possible that all three teams could make NCAA tournament. That's never happened. Last year was the first time in 23 years two MAC teams had made it. Both those teams -- Buffalo and Central -- reached the Sweet 16.

More detail is on the blog at http://wbbflashes.com.

(Kent State, Miami, Toledo all are likely to make WNIT field, which will be announced Monday after NCAA selection.)

RE: Women’s Basketball 2018-19
Buffalo beat Ohio 77-61 to win the women's MAC Tournament.

The fourth-seeded Bulls beat No. 5 Kent State Wednesday, No. 1 Central Michigan Friday and No. 2 OU Saturday.

They won six of their last seven games, including the three in the tournament, by an average of 20.5 points. Their only loss was at Kent State, 62-53 last Saturday.

Buffalo gets the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, but it may have lots of MAC company.

Three bracketology sites had Ohio and Central in the tournament, too. One of them also had Miami.

The MAC has never had three teams in the tournament. Last season Buffalo and Central made it and reached the Sweet 16. It was the first time in 23 years two teams had been chosen.

Details including the bracketology are on the blog at http://wbbflashes.com.

Flashes are very likely to make the WNIT, whose field will be announced Monday.

There's a Q&A about the tournament on the blog at http://wbbflashes.com. It tells where and when the games are, how the field is selected and my guess on where KSU is likely to play.

That prediction (though guess is a better word), by the way, is Cincinnati, Ohio State or Dayton.

RE: Women’s Basketball 2018-19
A last post before before the women's tournament selection:

KSU still looks good for the WNIT. My revised guesses on opponents are Cincinnati, Butler, Virginia Tech, American, Georgetown. It will definitely be away.

Ohio looks out of the NCAA. The Bobcats were one of the "debatable eight" announced by the NCAA yesterday. It listed eight teams fighting for the last four spots in the tournament. Since it came out, I've seen no bracket with Ohio in it.

That leaves the MAC with Central Michigan and Buffalo in the NCAA and Ohio, Miami, Toledo and Kent State in the WNIT.

The NCAA women’s bracket was accidentally released by ESPN at 3:15 (suppose to be 7:00pm). You can find it on line and ESPN is running it on the ticker right now. Oops!!!

RE: Women’s Basketball 2018-19
The women will play at Wisconsin-Green Bay on Thursday in the first round of the WNIT.

Green Bay consistently is one of the top mid-major teams in the country. The Phoenix have won at least 20 games every season since 1999-2000.

Green Bay was 22-9 this season and finished second in the Horizon League. It was the first time in 20 years it didn't win the championships, finishing second behind Wright State. They have one of the top defenses in the country, allowing just 52 points a game.

Details are on the blog at http://wbbflashes.com.
