Maybe not Alabama, but you are more correct than a lot of people would admit. It's because they truly believe the letters "SEC" is the sole reason these teams are the best.

What is "right?" Say, within three spots of preseason? He got 11 out of 30 within three spots of final ranking.

I believe they judge by "how accurate" the rankings are. Phil himself admits in his magazine that he did poorly last year on the accuracy of his rankings. Said he finished #7 among magazines.

Good to hear him say that.
Obviously, claims of accuracy in the magazine are overwhelmingly designed to sell more magazines, and brutha has to make a living.
I'm to lazy to find it again now, but one of the 247 articles (which are themselves whoring for clicks by "analyzing" Steele's rankings) had a quote of him plugging his predictions: of his ranked top 40, 89% went to bowls.
Wait a second, you ranked forty preseason, and you're claiming success that most of your top forty finished in the top 76!?!

How much does he get for delivering the magazine compared to what he gets from ESPiN. You also have to include what he gets from ESPiNU sports radio from Sirius Radio. I believe it has to make an effect on his magazine IF he thinks it is a better livelihood to work for ESPiN.
