I mean given that AAC finished last season with an average ranking 25 spots higher than CUSA.

Skewed by outliers, UCF and Rice UTEP and Charlotte.

Keep the ratings though, CUSA will just keep kicking AAC arse in bowl games

Pretty sad you keep hanging your hat on beating smu

Not just 1 ass whipping my friend, Navy, South Florida, Memphis, UConn. CUSA is 5-0 vs AAC in bowl games since league change in 2014

How about the regular season?
Where the AAC's fourth ranked team went on the road to beat the CUSA champ by three scores? Or the AAC's seventh ranked team skull-dragged the CUSA runner up hanging half a hundred on 'em.
But you want to base your self-esteem on beating that seventh ranked team when they had lost their coaching staff - not the head coach the staff to an extent that the new HC was on the sidelines (a rarity in these situations) without knowing the vocabulary of the offense and a grad assistant was calling the plays. Or the year prior we did have a nice #2 vs #2 matchup...except that the AAC #2 was missing half its starters including QB and captains on both sides of the ball....
Whatever makes you feel better little guy.
Your board, I don't want to be an ugly guest, I'm out.

I don't think anyone on this board will say the AAC isn't a better conference, but head-to-head with C-USA over the past 5 years, the AAC has a tenuous 23-21 edge, so it's really nothing to write home about. That's regular season and post-season combined.

Unless I missed one, there are 5 games on tap for the regular season this year...

Past 5 years would include 2013, when Rutgers and Louisville were still in the American and more importantly ECU, Tulsa, and Tulane were in CUSA. I honestly don't know what to count.
Looking at current conf members vs current conf members I got to 29-26 over that five year period.

The three years that the American has had its current composition, 11-8 vs CUSA. Better than tenuous, but definitely not overwhelming. 11-3 regular season in that time, 8-2 regular season in the last two years.
Adding 2014, AAC teams were 1-3 and pre-AAC Navy 0-1 so right back to tenuous.

My stats are for games between teams currently in the AAC and teams currently in C-USA. Well aware for example that Tulsa and Tulane were once in C-USA because UTSA beat 'em both back-to-back the year before they moved to the AAC. Wanted to focus on the conferences as they currently stand though. Btw, thanks for your service, if it's safe to assume you've served or are serving.

Good post. Yes better conference, marginal in football but definitely better in basketball (even though Marshall beat their 4 seed Wichita State).

I think they might see a small increase in TV revenue to cover ESPN+ production, but nothing in the range that is being predicted by their homers. If you look at sports media watch most of their conference games not on ABC, are on the bottom with the rest of the G5. Navy has a draw but has a separate deal with CBS.

I think Boise has shot to reclaim their decade+ G5 promininence this year and AAC with see another drop in Revenue without the extra NY6 payout as it did in 16-17

Wow! I'm shocked at how closely those Massey predictions match my own. Even the scores on LA Tech's 2018 schedule look very close to my own predictions. 04-cheers

Speaking only about UTSA, I think we'll have a chance at maybe 6 wins tops, but 5 seems about right.

Looks right to me, but probably not to my fellow odu posters. I tend to be on the low side when predicting wins, and I have 4 for odu this year.
