Judge Coney Barrett needs to be the pick
This will likely be the ugliest SCOTUS nomination ever because of abortion. Who better to pick than a pro-life woman?

Not only is she qualified, the Senate dems already attacked her previous nomination last year over her religion. They were arguing that because of her religious faith, she will not be able to be an objective judge somehow.

With all the rage from the left, the Dems will not be able to resist the bait and will again attack her based on her religious faith, and that will play right into the hands of Trump and galvanize his base and even "swing" Christian voters just ahead of the mid terms.

Picking her would be a classic Trump move and a perfect example of the 4-D chess people always talk about.

it's extremely sad scary how easily sheeples are herded when it comes to real life issues.....

do you really believe roe v. wade is going to change.....and if it did, what would be the end result?

it never ceases to amaze how rhetoric from the boob tube can stir the pot....

we live in Hearst/PT Barnum/Nat'l enquirer land more so now then ever before in the history of mankind......lmmfao....

I only wish there were a minority woman Trump could choose so he could call everyone who opposed her sexist AND racist.

No, I don't think Roe vs Wade will be changed no matter if Barrett or Kavanaugh is the pick, and even if it was half the states would still allow abortion.

None of that was the point of the thread though.

RE: Judge Coney Barrett needs to be the pick
There was an article I read this morning on his pick (maybe it was on Politico?) that talked about how optics were going to play a big part in the selection. It had Kavanaugh as the favorite as the optics of him and his wife being swearing in would fit that all-American look Trump is aiming for.

But at the same time, Kavanaugh's close ties to W Bush could be a liability (his wife was one of Bush's top personal aides).

Coney Barrett would certainly pass the optics test but 'insiders' in the White House claimed her meeting with Trump last week was a disaster, I believe was how the article described it. Who knows, maybe if she's so pro-life, perhaps she has disdain for a president who probably has paid for more abortions than all other presidents combined (although Bill Clinton might give Trump a run for his money??).

The third selection is the judge from Michigan and he supposedly hit it off big with Trump.

Trump is the one who nominated her to the 7th circuit last year, and has now made her a finalist for the SCOTUS. Its a pretty dramatic reach to think she has some personal animosity there.

Kavanaugh is one of the safest and most clear originalists on the list as well. He is also a homerun pick and only 53 years old.

Kethledge and Thapar are also very young and hardcore originalists and conservatives. There are no stealth liberals in this bunch. There will be no disappointments here.

Id be surprised if he picked anyone but Kavanaugh. There is going to be a narrow window on this and BK will not have anything but token opposition. He will be confirmed pretty quickly. Trump does not need to nominate someone that will spur protracted debate this time around. It is very likely that he gets another pick before he leaves office.

America wins and the progressive left loses either way. An originalist conservative that will hold the seat for a generation. Kavanaugh is only 53.

Kavanaugh has worked directly for the Bush administration and the left will likely go after him for being a clear partisan based on that.

Kethledge is a well known hunter if I remember correctly. Interesting.

Coney Barrett would be a fine pick. And she is fine, indeed.

Liberal women hate attractive women.
