It's a real shame Bellevue decided to cancel their fireworks due to the acts of certain people the last year or two. Their show has always been very enjoyable and I always looked forward to it. Maybe they will take some actions and decide to have them again next year. You just can't wave the wave the white flag and let the criminals win.

Gangs, undesirables and everything associated with them. Ask a member or a law enforcement officer that moonlights for them.

Thugs shooting up Bartlett firework show tonight....Shelby County is ruined.

This is why I live in DeSoto county.

Hopefully no problems in downtown Memphis tonight.

Unfortunately as long as there are cars, no area is safe. The incident in Bartlett involved 2 people with prior problems. Chances are, they were not residents and were there for the show and the problem escalated.

I was driving through Bellevue property Saturday on way home from Costco and I saw numerous flatbed trucks with fireworks on them and they were setting up. When did they cancel?

I was told last week there would be no fireworks. Bartlett feared there would be trouble since Bellevue had trouble last year. They were right. Not sure what was going on when you drove thru but I believe I was told over a week before the 4th there would be no fireworks.

There was no church sanctioned display. I'm sure people used their ground, or at least attempted to.

The shooting wasn't technically at the Bartlett Fireworks, as it took place at a Taco Bell. Tragic, stupid and totally unnecessary, but not actually related.

Speaking of a church and then calling others "undesirables" is exactly why folks are flocking away from church in general.
