WKU lost its three best players from last year and has a coach with only one winning season.

I think it’s a generous projection. If WKU can match their 3rd place finish from last year then I think the season will be a success.

Stansbury only has one winning season? Hmm how did he last so long at msu? Or are you talking about how he went from a dumpster fire with no guards on the roster when he took over to 27 wins last year? Cause that would help the writers point. But moving on past that is I can see your point but he negated your point in his description. I wouldn’t say we lost our three best players either. Jj of course was but Hollingsworth was way better than the kid from Murfreesboro at the end of the year. He was a mental midget in big games and it cost us dearly.

Last season was a historic season for WKU, no doubt.

I think Bassey can have every bit the impact Mitchell Robinson did for the Toppers. With a little work, he may even benefit from playing under Stansbury and develop into a Renardo Sidney type player and leader.

There’s a definite chance that WKU can continue to attract 7k for big games and even make another run at an NIT bid.

It’s definitely heady times on the Hill, that’s for sure.

Definitely a tongue in cheek backhanded compliment if ever there was one. Lol.

There was no compliment there haha. Just total trolling by someone sad that their only success ever as a program is over.

I honestly would have been disappointed with 97 even without Bassey.

You can argue that losing Johnson and Coleby were HUGE hits and they were. But the guys Stansbury replaced them with are... exceptional. And Bassey and Murray will have a lot better depth behind them than Johnson and Coleby had.

Replacing Thompson and his 4.8(!) assists per game may be our biggest question mark. He really made everyone else on last year's team better.

WKU last year (2017) rank #61 #1 in CUSA That is a big drop off. I really expected them to be around the same or even a small improvement over 2017.

2017
#61 #1 WKU
#82 #2 LA Tech
#91 #3 MTSU
#129 #4 ODU

For this year (2018)
I think Marshall in the neighborhood of #75-80
ODU may come in around #82-89
WKU#97
UTSA #120

It's going to be awfully difficult for us to repeat as kings of CUSA. There is a lot of talent in this league.

I think that’s low WKU but in my eyes you lost so much from last year. I hear the prediction about replacements, but that is yet to be proven. Johnson, Coleby and Thompson were all excellent players. Johnson in particular I thought was a stud. I will have to be shown they will be replaced successfully.

This time last season Johnson was practicing on football team and Coleby and Thompson were unknowns in how they would do...We have a lot bigger core this summer playing pick up games together then we ever had last season.....I feel much better this off season despite losing 3 good players......I could be wrong but we seem to be in much better shape and have way more continuity that you need in programs now then we have had a in a long time...

If somebody picks Marshall over WKU I can objectively understand that since Marshall beat us in the tournament and you return a lot more of your team than we did. But we are seriously loaded this coming year. As good as Johnson, Coleby and Thompson were we are loaded this year in a way that we were not loaded last year. I think we finish better than 97th nationally and better than 3rd in conference. Maybe I am just in the annual state of off-season euphoria but we'll see.

WKU brought in talent. But will that talent play as a team or play as individuals trying to help their own agenda.

Both Bassey and Banton are probably one and dones, WKU is there to babysit for them for a year. Will they fit in with the JRs and SRs and play as a team or are they going to be out there to get their own and try and help their own cause.

I guess Time will tell.

ODU in at 80. That leaves only Marshall, I do believe.

To be honest i think it will come down to WKU and Marshall in the conference and we need a way to figure out to get a second team to the tourney if not we will have coaches who have seen success wanting to leave just like the EmptySue ponies.

IMO ODU 25-7 last year and no tourney invite is criminal. Taking P-5 politics out of it and based upon merit only, CUSA should have had three teams in NCAA(Marshall, MTSU and WKU) and ODU in NIT.

Our strength of schedule was garbage. The only quality team we beat was Marshall and by the time they counted as a quality win it was too late.

I see us regressing this year, not improving. As much of a dick he was, losing Porter hurts. If our transfers don't get caught up to speed quickly we are in trouble. Thankfully I believe we have the best PG in the conference with Caver.

Ya, it all hinges on the kid from LSU this year. Or we all the sudden turn into the Warriors. Which... may not be out of the question but track records prove otherwise.

While I agree with the rest of what you said, I strongly disagree with this right now. Jon Elmore is C-USA’s premier PG. Yes he plays off the ball in some sets (and even in some games), but the ball is in his hands when it matters out front.

Sure, if Godwin can become Curry and BJ becomes Thompson, we will be unstoppable 04-rock
